Modified 1/5 - All the popular and winning decks are evolutions,
plus the fact that Absol is the only Pokemon you can have in
play to activate its Poke-Body makes it extremely useless. The
attacks are simply weak overall. The first attack looking for
Pokemon-ex is too limited in usefulness. I'll take Lunatone LM
anyday over Absol LM.
The next COTD Review is Absol (Legend Maker)
Absol is just a mediorce pokemon with below average attacks and
a Poke-Body thats really not that good. Sure it will search for
an ex but thats why we have Lanette's Net Search and Professor
Elm's Training Method and then after you use those trainers you
still get to attack. The second attack is nice but not with the
Darkness requirement. Weakness to Fighting is horrible and the
low Hit Points really hurt Absol.
Modified (HL-on): 3/10
Modified (DX-on): 3/10
Absol is alright. One energy for Extra Call is quite good. Being
able to search out an EX for the second/third turn setup is
always useful. Two energy for Feint Attack is the gold standard,
but through the years the attack has lost its luster. Absol's
Pokebody, Shining Horn can make this card useful against Mynx
and Lunasol decks, but otherwise I wouldn't expect to see this
card anytime soon, unless it becomes a key starting poke for
future decks after the format change. This is a pretty decent
card in Unlimited, but it's no Sneasel. As for Limited, if you
can get this card with one of the EX pokes this can be golden.
Unlimited 1.5/5 Modified 2.5/5 Limited 2/5
