Torterra L45
The HP is great and he gets an energy accelerator in the
form of Exeggutor in the upcoming Mystery of the Lake
set. The 4 retreat cost basically means he must be run
with switch/warp point, something you're likely to run
with Eggs - so he never needs an energy attachment and
you can get grass energy on your pokémon ASAP with
Synthesis. Sceptile POP4 + Dragonite ex are far superior
choices, as Torterra can escape fire weakness. A buffer
piece/pressure system stadium would come in handy for
Dragonite ex to escape the OHKO from Blaziken. Overall,
there simply isn't a place for the terror-tortoise in
your deck!

Torterra Lvl.45
Unlimited: Not very good here, the attacks are too
costly for what they do. 2/5
Modified: A little better, the hp is good, and you can
combo with Venusaur CG and boost to hit faster. 3/5
Limited: If you can pull it off then go for it. 4/5

His hp very good, but
his retreat costs and attack costs are quite high, leaf
storm could be good in the right kind of deck but the
cost is still quite high and you also have to bare in
mind that once you have him out, unless u got somthin
like switch or warp energy, he ain't coming back on the
bench.

Diamond & Pearl
Happy Monday =), hope you had a good weekend. Alright,
now onto the COTD. Torterra is the last evolvement of
the grass starter pokemon Turtwig from D&P. It is a
little disappointing, for 3 colorless energy you get 30
damage and 50/50 chance of paralyzing. And the second
attack is 60 damage and 20 healed from all of your grass
pokemon for 2 grass energies and 2 colorless. Even
though he does have 140 HP, it can only protect him for
so long. He does have a Pokemon Lv. X though.
Pros –
Great HP
Pokemon Lv. X
Cons –
Bad attacks
No delta basic
Massive retreat
Unlimited – This guy is horrible here, slow can’t
O.H.K.O much, and Massive retreat. I’d give it lower if
I could. 1/5
Modified – He’s bad here too, still to slow, and the
weak attacks kill him. I give him .5 for the pokemon Lv.
X 1.5/5
Limited – This guy is built for this format, High HP,
Healing attack, and can O.H.K.O basics. Too bad he’s
almost impossible to get out. 4.5/5

Not it's gust of wind LVL X bretheren, but we will give
it a look.
140 HP for a stage 2 jumps out. Not bad.
Fire weakness +30 is acceptable too. It will go down in
a hit to Infrenape, basically if Infernape has put ANY
damage on the lower stages.
3 for 30 and a paralyze flip is too expensive.
4 for 60 and remove 2 from each grass pokemon, including
Torterra, could be pretty OK, but like most Grass
Pokemon, not enough firepower to go long haul.
4 Retreat cost..you would hope for more power with a 4
retreat cost!
Shame is, it probably has the best starter of the 3 with
Turtwig going free attack for 10, or 1 energy for 20!
The LVL X Torterra is pretty nice, with a Gust of Wind
if you are losing...but how can you not be losing with
this card?
I am not a big fan...I am sure I will be proven wrong.
In the age of the fire monkey, this thing appears to be
potentially slightly charred at all times.
Unlimited...Ha...HAHAHA...no, 1/5
Modified...once again...i will be proven wrong, but in
my mind the weakest of the 3...2.0/5
Limited...if you can get him out, any stage 2 will break
games. Go ahead and draft him, or counter draft
him...3/5
