Unlimited - Pretty useless, unless you want to put Darkness Energy on your Vileplume ex to have it do more damage. Hehe. 1/5

Modified - It could shine here. Splash it into a deck that uses Pokemon with many colorless energy in its attack costs, and add some Special Darkness Energy. Blissey comes to mind. Changing your Active Pokemon's type to darkness also means you'll be doing extra damage to ghosts, plus evading resistance on all Pokemon. And that's just the Poke-Power. Just watch out for cessation crystal.

Shadow Charge is great, quickly charging up your Pokemon with Darkness Energy (either Special or basic).

Opponent has an 11 card hand? Chip Off!

The 0 retreat cost is nice. 4/5

Limited - Yes! Make sure you put a lot of basic dark energy in the deck (actually I haven't played in a limited tourney in 3 years, so I'm not sure if they give out basic darkness energy for you to use?) It'll quickly get your energy into play so you can do mucho damage. 4/5

Hello there, I finally got my internet back up after many days of missing my COTD reports (Why on earth does it take 3 – 6 days to be sent a new wireless internet tower?!?!) Oh well, today’s COTD is another new card from the new Secret Wonders set coming out this weekend (Where I live at least…) This pokemon has some uses, first off you notice the whole water type dark energy using thing, which rocks. A pokemon not needing the type of energy the pokemon is doesn’t happen very often, and even better is the fact that you can turn all of your active pokemon dark for a turn. The weakness is nice, not many metal pokemon floating around anymore. The HP sucks, no amount of type shifting powers can make up for a good amount of HP. The attacks aren’t that great either, but you’re not playing this card (If you’re playing this card,) for the attacks, you’re using it for it’s poke-power.

Pros –
Type shifting power
Needs dark energy but is water
0 retreat cost
Shadow charge

Cons –
Can be OHKOed by that “super flaming hyperactive monkey” Infernape
Can’t OHKO that “super flaming hyperactive monkey” Infernape (Or many things for that matter.)

Unlimited – Why on earth would anyone evolve a Sneasle into this here?!?! 1.5/5 (.5 for the slight usability)

Modified – Once I figure out how to abuse its power I might use it 4/5

Limited – 40 damage to reduce the opponents hand of cards they don’t need? Why? 3/5

I look forward to destroying you in the pokemon prerelease soon,

To go through my checklist of what makes a card distinct from suberb to perfect and defining a metagame. Free retreat has long been perfection on a card from the days of Jungle Scyther. Energy acceleration, from the days of Rain dance when fast and efficent is also intense. Doing fast damage helps any card and is frequently teh deciding factor in large scale tournaments that beat the slower archetypes. Any manipulative factor such as Metagross' delta control can combo massively with other cards. Weavile has every single one of these traits and is surely a force to be reckoned with, it even follows Metagross with a split evolution line, DP Weavile staying a strong reliable partner for the speedy ice weasel.

5/5
