Latios

Modified - I tried out a deck with this guy, Togekiss, and strength charms. The strategy was to use Togekiss' power to get a bunch of energy onto multiple Latios, attach strength charm to them when necessary and OHKO any 130 HP Pokemon. In theory it sounded good but in testing it was just too hard to pull off many Togekiss powers. I would KO maybe one gallade, then the opponent's 2nd Gallade would KO my Latios and I'd have nothing left. Luster Purge is too expensive to be good. 2/5

Limited - Energy Draw is weak, and Luster Purge is expensive, but it's a good finisher attack if you just need that last prize. 2/5

(03/11/08) - Latios Lv. 47

Name: Latios Lv. 47
Set: Great Encounters
Rarity: Rare

Analysis: Latios has 90 HP and resistance to fighting on a basic. Niiice. And it can do 120 damage?! Now, let's see... Drawbacks, drawbacks... Well, first it has weakness to colorless and a retreat cost of 2. Second, it is basic, so it cannot utilize Double Rainbow Energy. It also needs 2 different kinds of energy for a 4 energy attack (1 of grass, 1 of lightning, 2 or anything). And unfortunately, Wild Growth will not affect Latios, as it is a colorless Pokemon. But, Latios still has potential. My suggestion: use Celebi as a starter and use its Sprouting/Leaf Tornado combo to quickly load up Latios. Perhaps use Magneton to get those energy back. Latios can definitely have an impact, as long as it gets a good partner.

Modified: Heavy damage and a resistance to Gallade. (4/5)

Limited: High HP on a basic and an attack that can accelerate energy. But you have to discard many many energy... (2/5)

Morning people. I’m not going to lie to you, I missed yesterdays COTD review because I was playing Super Smash Bros Brawl! It is as good (If not better) than everyone says, if you don’t have a Wii I feel sorry for you. =P Anyway, today’s COTD review is Latios, who usually needs his sister Latias in order to do much. I could see this card doing well with a deck like this, 4 Latios, 2 Latias d HP #11 (for dual aura), 2 Latios d EX, 3-2-3 Togekiss, 1-1 Dugtrio CG (For anti bench sniping, and 2-2 Claydol. 1(G) 1(L) and 2(C) is big energy cost for an attack, but then also you have to discard a (G) and an (L). This seems like it would make our poor friend here unplayable, but 120 is enough to make up for the cost (Magmortar needs 6 energy to do 120, and Gallade needs to flip over half it’s prizes.) in the right deck this could work.

Pros –
120 damage is a lot!
Energy draw is decent 1 (c) attack
Needs to have 3 prizes flipped over by Gallade to be OHKOed

Cons –
2 much retreat
Needs a bit more HP
Cost is a bit high

Modified – If used with Togekiss is could see some play. 4.25/5

Limited – it needs (G) and (L)?!? Don’t use it unless your deck is pure (G) and (L). 3.5/5

Must… Play… Super… Smash… Bros… Brawl…

Modified: I  really like the second attack.  Too bad we don't have proper energy accelerators in the Format (accept for Togekiss and  Blaziken just too name a few). Doing 120 Damage to a Pokemon for 4 energy discarding 3 reminds me a little of the old Latios* version. Resistance too Fighting is nice with all  the Gallade being played.  But I just don't  think this card will see a lot of play due to the high energy cost.

Rating : 1.5/5

Limited: It can do 10 and power itself (on a coinflip). If you could get it powered up yopu  could use it too OHKO something big. Otherwise this thing is just too slow.

Rating : 2/5
