Hey all, welcome to another day of reviews. Today we
will be reviewing another Lv. X, Magnezone!
Name: Magnezone Lv. X
Set: Legends Awakened
Rarity: Ultra Rare Holo
HP: (140) - For a technical Stage 3, 140 is OK. It will
last a couple turns, especially if you have some special
Metal Energy on him.
Weakness/Resistance: (Fire x2/Psychic-20) - Weakness to
fire could be a problem against the likes of older
archetypes, but the popularity of water recently makes
it less of a problem. Resistance to psychic is
FANTASTIC.
Retreat Cost: (4) - :O... Oh wait, just attach a metal
energy to it. Yeahh... free retreat! (Regular
Magnezone's body)
Poke-POWER: (Energy Trans) - This Power is really
convenient, especially considering the combos with
Electivire and Rayquaza (I prefer Electivire because it
is guaranteed). So you can ensure you have a Lightning
energy every turn for Cyber Shock; it's just your job to
come up with a metal energy, whether it is attached to
something else already, or if you have to attach it.
Attack #1: (LM - Cyber Shock) - This attack is really
good, especially since Magnezone can easily replenish
itself with energy. This attack plus a Buck's or
PlusPower KO's any AMU candidate, and guaranteed
paralysis is just broken.
Final Analysis: Magnezone Lv. X improves an already
great card, which is Magnezone from DP. It gets free
retreat (with a metal energy attached) and can move
around energy easily which makes it good already. Then,
the regular Magnezone has an unlimited attack (more
damage for every metal attached to it) and an attack
that does decent damage and auto-paralysis. I see no
reason why this doesn't become a major deck in
tournaments coming up, especially with the great
partnership that Electivire provides. If you want to see
a decent idea for a deck using Magnezone, check out one
of my recent deck fixes for a deck list and strategy.
Modified: This card, in my opinion, is great. I will
seriously consider playing it soon (if I can get my
hands on one). (4.5/5)
Limited: Sorry, the regular Magnezone and preevolutions
aren't in this set. (n/a)
