HEYA  AND WELCOME to the Cotd! Yes, I'm back, and just in time for Trainer Week! OOOOOOOHHH HOW EXCITING!!!! I've been out for a while, writing my State of the Metagame article, and I'm, uh, still writing that one. Ya, uh, bad choice of topic on this one haha! So, check it out if you haven't already, and I'll get the other sections up this week. Anyway, now that I'm done with the Reintroduction, let's talk about today's card. It's a Pokemon Tool of the one use varitety, and it's one on which we've kinda seen the reverse of (Magnifier, from Neo Destiny, took away the opponent's Resistance for a turn like Bubble Coat robs them of their ability to capitalize on Weakness for a turn). And now, onto the card!

Pokemon Tool: Bubble Coat is a real tool, so it sticks around. This could help when you want to Wager or Professor Rowan and want to keep it. Luckily it IS the type that doesn't get discarded after a single turn, and waits until you're attacked. It would be TWENTY times better if it wasn't discarded, but that's no the case. Oh well...

Effect: Bubble Coat is simple. For one of your opponent's attacks, it will take away your active's Weakness entirely, so no Garchomp silliness, or Lake Boundary shenanigans. So, what decks benefit from this. The answer is, all of them. BUT, don't all rush to put 4 of them in your deck now, and if you were, you should now see the problem with this card. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO FACE A DECK WITH YOUR WEAKNESS IN IT EVERYTIME, AND THE TIMES YOU DON'T, IT'S A COMPLETELY DEAD CARD. Unless you use Professor Oak's Visit or Felicity's Drawing (and then you might have something else you're supposed to be discarding), this card WILL be 1000% useless. And dead draws, especially late game, lose games. Sure, you might play a deck with many enemies, like.....MAGMORTAR/bLAZIKEN! But EVEN THEN, you're dedicating spots to a card you're going to want in VERY specific occasions, and you can't play alot of them because if you go up against something like AMU, you're going to be skipping draw steps everytime you find one of these. And EVEN THEN, one turn of non-90 from the Kingdra, WON'T prevent the 2HKO anyway, and if you ARE going to Rowan or Wager, you'll still lose the Bubble Coat to the turn of non-90-but-still-2HKO anyway. So really, while this card TRULY benefits every single deck in the format right now, it deserves a spot in NONE of them. Crazy, really....

Combos: Ummm......Lapras? Hahaha this card fits with any thing, like I said, but wastes precious draws against so many decks you'll play.

Ratings:

Modified: 2/5 Below average, I know, this card would be ALOT better even if it just lasted two turns.

Limited: 2.5/5 A little better, as the one time without the extra damage might be enough to save your active attacker, but still a rare moment.

We start off trainer week today with the card bubble coat. This pokemon tool is good because it gives the pokemon it is attached to on weakness until it is damaged from an opponents attack than it is discarded. Bubble coat sees play as tech in decks such as kingdra, magmortor, and A/M/U to name a few to stop your opponent from knocking out your pokemon that has a weakness to their active pokemon. In all this card is good to tech but be sure to include it in a deck that you know will see problems with weakness or in garchomp decks case a mirror match.

Modified; 4.5 out of 5 in the right situation a life saver and a great tech card in many decks

Limited: 2.5 out of 5: here it has less potentail because there are better cards to play in this format

Art: 1 out of 5
