Lugia (Call of Legends)

We end the week with a review of another of those shiny cards from Call of Legends.

Like Ho-Oh, it’s rare, prettyful, and very collectible. Also like Ho-Oh it has abysmal attacks. [W][C][C] for 30 snipe? FIVE Energy for a vanilla 80 damage? You get the picture.

If you enjoy collecting Pokémon cards with nice artwork, then you would rate this highly. If, like me, you are a player, you will trade this away to someone who appreciates it.

They might as well print ‘Not for tournament play’ on the back, like they do with jumbo card and the World Championship decks. Ignore the low scores I’m giving these cards and enjoy them for what they are meant to be.

Rating

Modified: 1 (it was never meant to be played)

Limited: 1 (don’t play it in prerelease either, put it straight in the binder and keep it in good condition)

conical 2/4/11: Lugia (Call of Legends)

More shiny legends, yay! If only any of them were playable. At least neither Lugia nor Ho-Oh from yesterday is as bad as Dialga. I'll grant them that.

If Lugia has no other advantage over some of the other shiny legends, it has this: Its attacks have no drawbacks to them, besides their low damage, and all the legends have that. Linear Attack is a standard sniping attack, for 30 damage. Then, Hydro Splash does 80 damage, for 5 energy. In Modified, this is terrible, and in Limited, it's not much better, but I guess compared to the other legends, it's above average.
