Dear Mr. Meganium?  Technically it would be dear Mr. 45.....but, heh, let's get to work

Dear Mr. Meganium,

This is an unlimited deck, I hope you don't mind.

I just don't have the depth in cards for a modified.

But, grass is my favorite type, and I hope that you
will review my deck for me.

The Grass Deck:

Pokemon: 24
1 Jungle Scyther (deck staple?)
1 Aquap. Tangela  (one of the best Tangelas)
1 Jungle Pinsir  (50, I'm not complaining)
1 Aquap. Pinsir  (Desperate times....)
2 TR Grimer (they're good)
1 TR Dark Muk (one of my favorite cards)
1 Bulbasaur (evolution....)
1 Ivysaur  (evolution....)
1 Venusaur  (oh, yeah!!!)
2 Base Caterpie (evolution...)
2 NDisc. Metapod  (I love the Hatch effect)
1 Jungle Butterfree  (both attacks are cool
1 NDisc. Butterfree  (my favorite Butterfree)
1 Fossil Ekans (a dang good Ekans)
1 Fossil Arbok  (good combo w/ a high HP pkmn w/ no
energy attached on opp bench)
1 Fossil Zubat (darn good zubat)
1 Fossil Golbat (two good attacks
1 NGen. Spinarak (the only one I have)
1 Aquap. Ariados (I just love the attack)
1 Jungle Venonat (evolution...)
1 Jungle Venomoth (confuse+poison=deadly)

------------

Trainers: 11

1 NGen. Pokemon March (see above)
1 NDisc. Energy ark (need energy....)
2 Aquap. Time Shard (see above)

----------

Energy: 25
25 Grass Energy
(I have a couple of DCEs, so if you suggest I use
them...)

--------------

Allright!  I am going to try to work with what you have, what you love, and what works.  I realize that you are on a limited run, so I will try to be gently on my changes.  Most of your cards are 1s and 2s, and if you are playing unlimited we will try to keep it all in line.

As far as Pokemon go, I am going to suggest you go with some bigger basic pokemon

I would prefer to use 3 Scyther, 4 Grimer and 3 Dark Muk...That will give you a good grass base.  Here's a nice trick, if you do not have enough jungle or base2 Scyther, use the promo scyther, or the neo discovery one.  Since all our energy will be grass or double colorless, I do not mind putting in any of those scythers.  Jungle is always preferred because of its free retreat cost, and colorless attacks, but in a pinch the others will do fine.

You know, if you could get your hands on a few Scyther EX, those would work nicely too.  Rocket's Scyther will keep your opponent off guard from attacking while you build your bench.  Ideally, you could play 3 Jungle Scyther, 3 Scyther EX, and 3 Rocket's Scyther.  YOu like powerful Grass Pokemon, those are powerful Grass Pokemon.
We need to focus your deck, so let's keep the Butterfree line in as well.  Go 3 Caterpie, 2 Metapod, and 3 Butterfree (we will use breeder)

If you feel the urge to stall, and to have other uses for your double colorless energy, let's add in 2 Chansey as well, and of course two Neo Genesis Cleffa, just in case.

Assuming you will only play 6 total Scyther (your choice of styles)
The pokemon will look like this:

That's 18 total pokemon, a bit higher than most people like, but I think it will work with this group

3 Scyther (jungle, if not, then promo, discovery, or 50HP AQ)
3 Scyther EX (or Rocket's Scyther)
3 Caterpie (your choice)
2 Metapod (your choice)
3 Butterfree (I like your choices)
2 Chansey
2 Cleffa

Energy  16 Grass
4 Double Colorless - as you get used to this deck, you will probably cut this down to 13-14 Grass Energy, and add in cards based on your style.

Allright, now I am going to put in what I feel is the ideal trainer mix for this group, with alternates if you do not have my first choice of cards.

We are going to have 22 trainers, which is low for an unlimited deck, but, you will see what I am trying to do

First card drawing - you need at least 8 cards  Put together 8 from the following try to use the highest picks possible
1st choice - professor Oak
2nd choice - professor Elm
3rd choice - copycat
4th choice - Professor Oak's research
5th choice - Bill

Second Deck searching - you need at least 8 cards - Put together 8 from the following, try to use the highest picks possible
1st Choice - Computer Search
2nd Choice - Pokemon Trader
3rd Choice - Fast Ball (you only have one evolution line to get out!)
4th Choice - Pokemon Fan Club
5th Choice - Poke Ball (since you have those)

Third - Protection/Maintenance - you need at least 4 cards (hopefully more, with less energy later on)
1st Choice  - Focus Band
2nd Choice - Pokemon Breeder
3rd choice - Pokemon Center
4th Choice - gold berry

Fourth - Deck rebuilding - at least 2 cards - get the cards back that you need
1st choice - Nightly Garbage Run
2nd Choice - Item finder

This will build you a solid deck to start with, let me put together a sample decklist, then I will give you the decklist to my favorite Grass deck to play in unlimited (just to give you an idea of my thoughts - wanted to try to use what you had)

Your deck - Green waves

Pokemon (18) - 13 Basics
3 Scyther (jungle or as above)
3 Scyther EX (or Rocket's)
3 Caterpie (your choice)
2 Metapod (your choice)
3 Butterfree (I like your choices)
2 Chansey
2 Cleffa

Energy 20 - 4 special
16 Grass
4 Double Colorless - for Scyther, and Chansey

Trainers
4 Profesor Oak
2 Elm
2 Oak's Research
3 Compter Search
3 Pokemon Trader
1 Pokemon Fan Club
1 Fast Ball
2 Focus Band
1 Pokemon Breeder
1 Pokemon Center
2 Nightly Garbage Run

As yo uplay, you may want to switch out for energy removal, and other tricks of the trade.  This deck should make you win a few, and appreciate the nuances of the game, as you develop the deck into your own style.  Remember, you have to enjoy the style that you play.  If I were to play grass in unlimited, this is what I would play:

Pokemon (16)
3 Jungle Scyther
3 NG Hoppip
2 NR Skiploom
3 AQ Jumpluff
1 Chansey
2 Cleffa
1 Mr. Mime (anti-sneasel)
2 ND Igglybuff (slowking)

Energy - (12)
4 Rainbow
4 Grass
3 Double Colorless
2 Recycle

Trainers (32)
4 Computer Search
3 Item Finder
4 Energy Removal
4 Super Energy Removal
2 Nightly Garbage Run
4 Focus Band
4 Gust of Wind
2 Pokemon Center
2 Scoop Up
1 Double Gust (late game surprise)
1 Sprout Tower

This deck does not always win, but it is fun deck for me to play.  I like Jumpluff's Power and low energy attacks, and I like to remove energy (does it show?) and I like to frustrate my opponent, both with sprout tower and Mr. Mime... hope this helps..Meganium45
