WOTC CHAT REPORT
June 21, 2002 - by CHRISBO

Master Trainer Pat had the Chat all to himself today, but he had to end it after only half-an-hour due to some other matters he had to attend to. Nothing really new this week, but here's what's fit to print.

Enjoy,
- CHRISBO

CHALLENGE SERIES / WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #103 from articjedi:
on what day is the grinder for worlds.
master_trainer_pat says, "Friday Aug. 2nd(I believe.) I know it's Friday at
3pm. Also, these events are called 'grinders' folks, not meatgrinders. Those
are for making sausage."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #95 from xeodus:
Will the grinder in Seattle for Worlds be for all ages, or will there be two
separate for both 10- and 11-14?
master_trainer_pat says, "I think there will be separate ones."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #96 from lance313:
So, public trans is decent from around 8th and Bell (West-Northwest of the
Convention Center)? About .6 miles down 8th from where I'll be at Worlds.
master_trainer_pat says, "Yes, that should be fairly easy. I can't tell you
the routes off the top of my head...but at the very least it's a short walk
to the Pike/Pine corridor...which has buses traveling to all parts of the
city."

CARDS IN GENERAL:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #71 from odyssey22:
if a pokemon card is new and it has 3 stars in the bottom right corner, is
it an ultra rare card?
master_trainer_pat says, "No, it's just one of the Shining cards from Neo:
Destiny. They are not ultra rare, though they are slightly more hard to find
than the regular rares."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #106 from ldevree11:
Earlier, you stated cards with three stars a slightly more harder to get.
How slightly is that?
master_trainer_pat says, "Well, I don't know the odds but you should expect
to get fewer triple-star rares in a box than regular foil rares."
[CHRISBO NOTE: In any given pack of Neo: Destiny there is a 1-in-3 chance of
getting a foil rare card; that foil may be either a normal-foil rare
(single-star) or a Shining-foil rare (triple-star). There are 16
normal-foil cards in the set, but only 8 Shining cards; therefore the
Shinings are slightly harder to get, but the odds are not that much
different.]
