Pojo's Inuyasha Site Inuyasha is the epic tale of a group of people who journey through feudal Japan in search of special jewel fragments. And when I say epic, I do mean LONG (167 episodes). Just don’t think about that when you’re buying the season box sets. ;-) Episode 1 introduces Kagome, a high school girl living in modern Japan whose life changes suddenly; she turns 15. Oh wait, sorry, that’s only one of the things that happens that day. She’s also sucked back in time into feudal Japan by a demon. She awakens another, short-tempered demon, Inuyasha, and is able to free him from a spell that bound him to a tree (because she unknowingly possesses the Shikon Jewel). Inuyasha kills the other demon, but then attempts to hunt Kagome to take away the jewel in hopes of becoming a full demon (he is only a half-demon). Before he can, however, Kaede, an elderly woman and sister of the deceased Kikyo, intervenes and puts a necklace around Inuyasha which allows Kagome to control him with the command of “sit.” More events happen rapidly. The Shikon Jewel is shattered, much to Inuyasha’s dismay. Its fragments are shot across the world. Kaede then explains that Inuyasha and Kagome must work together to recover the jewel fragments, because if they do not, other demons will possess them and become extraordinarily dangerous. Inuyasha and Kagome reluctantly set out on the journey. From there, the series takes off. Lots of “monster-of-the-week” episodes are aired; however, a greater storyline develops, slowly, and is sprinkled throughout certain episodes. Kikyo, Naraku, and Sesshomaru appear fairly frequently throughout the series and pose problems for our characters. Who are they? Watch the series and find out! --- Inuyasha is one of Adult Swim’s (Cartoon Network) highest rated programs, pulling in enormous viewers on premier nights. New episodes usually air on Saturdays and reruns are shown are shown periodically. Check the Adult Swim website, http://www.adultswim.com, for updated schedules. |
