# of Participants-17
Its that time again, when I crawl out of my bed and
get ready for another tournament at Deja Vu Games, turn-out this week tied
the record high of 17 participants, prizes would be better then usual.
Once again I stuck with my Haymaker since it is my tournament
deck, the Haymaker variant I'm going with this week is the pretty much the
same as last week, but with a few adjustments. So without further or
do here's how my latest version of Hot Jalapeno Potpourri looks like...
Hot Jalapeno
Potpourri
Energy: 22
7 Fire
6 Lighting
6 Psychic
3 Double Colorless
Pokemon: 13
3 Fossil Magmar
3 Electabuzz
3 Mr. Mime
3 Scyther
1 Chansey
Trainers: 25
4 Bill
3 Professor Oak
3 Gust of Wind
3 Super Energy Removal
2 Energy Removal
2 Plus Power
1 Energy Retrieval
1 Energy Search
2 Item Finder
3 Scoop Up
1 Computer Search
No big changes here, I just swapped out 1 Energy
Search for another Bill, the deck actually uses a little less Energy
now with the retirement of Hitmonchan.
Now for what happened at one of the biggest
tournaments at Deja Vu Games! This week would have to be a easy
tournament victory, but I think I saw 5 Haymaker's out there including my
own and 3 Raindance's. That is a total of 8 competitive decks,
almost half the people there were using Haymaker or Raindance.
Round 1-VS Peter
B. (Hope this is the correct name) with Haymaker
He is
playing with a Haymaker, but needs some tweaking to make it more of a
challenge, my E.R.'s and S.E.R. keep his Pokemon back and back far
enough so that my Electabuzz's and Magmar's can just open up on his guys.
The match was over very quickly, I don't remember the exact detail of the
match but I got all my prizes by the time he got one.

Round 2-VS Alex
K. with Raindance
I open with the worst hand ever, a
Magmar against his extremely fast Raindance deck, luckily luck is bad for
him and he gets only a Lapras, but a terrible hand. After a couple of
E.R. on my part he is out of energy. I'm able to get a few Bills and
some speed picks up for my side of the table, Electabuzz gets down on the
table but is forced to only use his thunder shock. Because of his own
removals, eventually he gets his energy but loses his Energy Removals, thus
allowing my Electabuzz's to use there ultimate Raindance shredding attack,
Thunderpunch. I kill off a Lapras and a Squirtle, while building my
Mr. Mime knowing that his Blastoise is coming very soon. The game is
in my favor completely now. He can't take Electabuzz's wrath much
longer, and he defiantly can't take Mr. Mime against a his Blastoise and
Wartortle's. I finish him off, but he did make life hard for
Electabuzz and was able to clear away the 2 I had, only to watch Mr. Mime
come up and win the game for me.
Record: 2-0

Round 3-VS Troy S.
with a Haymaker
Another
Haymaker deck, this one is good, but my deck can totally destroy any
traditional Haymaker deck, he is using Hitmonlee in this version of his
Haymaker, I start with Scyther and this bad for him. I kill his
Hitmonlee on turn 3, and that is the end of the match, I guess he doesn't
play with many trainers since he only played a Gust of Wind and switched my
2 Scythers for some reason. Well I'll gladly take the win, I mean the
easy win :).

Round 4-VS John N.
with Raindance
Man what is
it with me starting with Magmar against these Raindance's? Well I
start with Magmar and receive a Mr. Mime on my first turn draw, he is
starting with Poliwag and Squirtle on the back. If my smokescreen
doesn't work my Magmar is going be gone in a hurry, with my luck smokescreen
never works and Mr. Mime is my last line of defense, he takes 10 then a 20
from a Poliwag I'm trying to remove energy from. I almost forget I
have Comp. Search in my hand, mistaking it for a Energy Search that was in
front of it. Doh! I Search for a Oak, and turn the game around,
no it's my turn to play, Electabuzz is now down and I Scoop Mr. Mime and
kill his Poliwag with a T-Shock from Buzz. Next comes out a Articuno,
who is one energy short of an attack, he says go and I T-Punch him for 40,
he goes and plays Potion, Grr. and Freeze Dry's and no Paralyze. My
turn I S.E.R., Articuno and Punch him again. Now I can see Articuno is
his last trick, no Blastoise or Poliwrath, no Oaks, Bills or nothing.
He goes a powers up a Poliwag, I go and kill his Articuno, he sends out his
last Pokemon now and Water Gun's me for 20. Now with a good roll
I can win the game, but with my luck again I roll a Odd #. Grrr... He
is able to get some bench support with a Pokemon trader and kills my
Electabuzz. Oh well, the game will be soon over, Scyther comes out and
kills his Poliwag, he sends out Squirtle and no Paralyze. I go and
Pluspower + Slash and win the game.

Round 5-VS Mike S.
with Potpourri
Mike is using the older
version of Potpourri against me, which is not that hard to play against, I
get LOTS of E.R., S.E.R. and Item finder. To remove his energy down to
the point where his discard pile is only energy. While my energy is
not coming in the right colours I struggle to get the right energy for the
right Pokemon, while he is trying to get past my Scyther with a Hitmonchan.
I eventually get some energy and so does he, Scyther kills off 2 Hitmonchans,
thanks to Gust of Wind. But falls to Mr. Mime, Magmar is now out and
Smog, Mr. Mime, his Mime is now sick to the brain and dies after he is
done attacking (Poison). The prizes are now 3 for me and 1 for him, we
exchange blows until we are down to 2 prizes each, he caught up to me with
some fancy Pluspower work on his Scyther to get some quick kills on me
Magmar's. I see that his deck is extremely low so that I have more win
options, I go into stall mode, Scooping Up and trying slowing knock out a
Pokemon, my strategy works and I kill a Scyther. By now his deck is at
about 8 cards and we have 5 minutes to go, so I can now win two ways, deck
him or prize win. I'm able to get my last prize with a quick Gust of
Wind on his Scyther and use Magmar, to Smog, with 2 Pluspowers and a
good flip I won the game in won shot.
Record:5-0
15 Points
Well that was the last round, I went undefeated for yet
another tournament :) I won a Lockdown deck and a 1st Edition Jungle
Booster, where does Deja Vu get these 1st Edition Jungle Boosters?
They must have an entire box saved for prizes or something, well anyways I
got a Holo-Snorlax from the booster, oh yeah! The best card in the
game, by far...
Because of my finishing's in last weeks tournament, I
went from 11th in the world to 8th! My rating is now 1968, I'm going
try to get even higher in the DCI standings. Although I have a long
way to go since the guy in first has gone to like 30 events and I have only
been to about 12 or so.
Now its time for this weeks PROPS
and SLOPS!
PROPS to
Wizards for making Magmar an Uncommon, he is to good to be an Uncommon I
think.
PROPS to Wizards for
updating like 4 times in the last 2 weeks, that would have to be a record.
PROPS to Magmar for
holding the line for me when facing against those dreadful Water decks.
SLOPS to
The computer for pairing me up with all the more "good" players.
SLOPS to Deja Vu for
giving a Lockdown deck instead of Fossil Boosters.
Well that's all for another day all wrapped up
at Deja Vu, I wonder who will win October's Report Contest?
Oooo the excitement...:) Oh and one more thing, I'm thinking of adding
pictures to my reports, they well probably be fictional and just funny
pictures of course. But I may decide to make a report with real
pictures, that's if I can get a Scanner or borrow a Digital Camera from
my Uncle. Also you like the colours I added to the report I think they
made it look quite spiffy.
