This deck was used at a tournement sponsored by my Pokemon club and some
parents. It was held in Kearny, NJ(not where we live, but we got it cheap)in
a hall we rented from the Church opposite on Belgrove Drive. The grand
prize
was 5 booster packs of first-edition fossil cards. I entered with two other
friends. Twenty people competed. (not an estimation, there were 20 spots
available and all of them were filled. Although we agreed not to fight each
other, me and my friends defeated almost everyone there between us. I will
post their decks also, since I made their decks also. First, my deck. It
contained:
4 Magicarp
4 Gyarados
4 Hitmonchan
3 Dratini
2 Dragonaire
15 Water Energy
10 Fighting Energy
4 Energy Removal
4 Super Energy Removal
3 Switch
2 Super Potion
3 Potion
2 Gust Of Wind
This deck doesn't have a great number of pokemon, but what it lacks in
number, it makes up in power. I will not post all my battles, but only a the
most important ones. I won 12 battles and lost one, but I went back and
challenged the guy again to beat him. That makes a total of 14 battles, with
a total record of 13 wins and 1 loss. We were playing holo wager.
First Battle. me vs. Grass and ????
I only saw one of his pokemon, the Scyther he opened with. Anyway, I drew a
Magicarp, a Gyarados, a Hitmonchan, a Superpotion and 2 Water Energy. I put
Magicarp and Hitmonchanon the bench. I won the toss and went first. I drew a
fighting energy. I attached an energy to Hitmo and jabbed Scyther for 20.
He
attached an energy and sword danced. I drew a switch, evolved
Magicarp, and
attached a water energy to to Hitmonchan. He used a GOW to get out my
Gyarados, potioned his Scyther, attached a double colorless to it, and used
Slash for 120 to gyarados, knocking it out. I drew a fighting energy and
attached it to Hitmo and used Special punch. He slashed me for thirty. I
drew dratini and used Superpotion on Hitmo. Then I knocked out his Scyther
with a Jab. Game over.
Third Battle: me vs. Electric Energy Denial Deck.
This was the hardest battle. I started with 2 Hitmo, a dratini, a
dragonaire, a double colorless, a Water Energy, and a Energy Removal. I put a
Hitmo and a dratini on the bench. He had a 2 Pikachu(jungle), Electabuzz, and
a Dratini. He went first. He attached an electric energy to Buzz and
paralyzed my active Hitmo. I had no Fighting energy, so I attached a water
to Dratini. He attached an Electric energy to his Electabuzz and
thunderpunched me for 40. I drew a fighting energy. I evolved Dratini and
attached the double colorless to hitmo and retreated him and sent out
Dragonair. He thunderpunched dragoiair for 30 and 10 to himself. I drew a
DC, attached it to Dragonair, but my slam did nothing. He paralysed
Dragonair. I attached F to Dragonair and Hyperbeamed. He attached an
energy
to Buzz and Super Energy Removaled my 2 DC's. I though I lost at that point,
but eventually, I put Hitmo out to KO his Electrics, which couldn't get
enough energy after I took out Buzz. By the time he put out his Dragonair,
I
had a fully potioned hitmonchan that killed it in 2 hits, after he Super
Energy Removaled me and hyperbeamed me for a while.
Battle 4 Me vs. Raindance Deck. This was no fun. I got a full Gyarados
hand
on the first draw and killed his Blastoise and Magikarp in quick succesion.
Battle 5: Me vs. Toxic Mountain(Rock and Poison) This deck was my friends, I
had to quit, as per our agreement. Spent rest of the day challenging
trainers outside of the tournement for Holo wagers. Got me a Snorlax,
Machamp, Articuno, Hitmolee, Gengar, 2 Hypno. I also lost a Moltres,
Machamp. Also, in the booster packs one of my friends won that he gave me
for graciously not beating him, I got a Edition 1 Moltres, although not a
Holo one. All in all, not a bad day.
