I have read almost all of the single card reports and the deck reports on the Pojo. And I would just like to say that everyone gives the Basic Haunter and Basic Gastly WAY too much credit. Let's compare them:

Gastly:
HP: The Basic Gastly has only 30 HP, which is really pathetic compared to the Fossil Gastly's 50 HP.

Attacks (1st attack): The Basic Gastly has Sleeping Gas, which is pretty crappy because only 50% of the time do you put the Defender to sleep, and they still have a 50% chance of waking up. Doing the math, Sleeping Gas only works 25% of the time and it doesn't do any damage. The Fossil Gastly, however, does Lick for 10 dmg, and has a 50% chance of paralyzing the opponent.
Attacks (2nd attack): Basic Gastly's Destiny Bond is really overrated. First, although it kills the attacker, Gastly dies too, but that isn't much of a loss ;-). Second, the opponent is not required to attack, it can just wait until you are done discarding energy. Third, it takes 2 energy, which can be tough to get because Gsatly only has 30 HP. Fossil Gastly, however, has energy conversion, which is great! You return to energy to your hand and Gastly takes only 10 dmg!! This attack should be used more than it is!

Retreat: Their retreat's are both free.

Weakness: Neither have a weakness.

Resistance: They are both resistant to fighting.

Obviously, the Fossil Gastly is a clear winner in all categories.

Haunter

HP: The Basic Haunter has 60, while the Fossil has 50. The basic has more, but read further to see the Fossil's defensive advantages.

Attacks (1st attack): Basic Haunter had Hypnosis, which is pretty good. Fossil Haunter, however, has the Pokemon Power of Transparency, which is incredibly strong. This forces the attacker to flip to see if he does damage. So only 50% of the time is Haunter really attacked! That's almost the equivalent of Haunter having 100HP instead of 50HP!

Attacks (2nd attack): Basic Haunter's Dream Eater SUCKS! It does 50 dmg for only 2 psy energy, but it requires the defender to be asleep! Only 25% of the time is the defender still asleep after you use hypnosis (the opponent gets to flip twice for sleep), so Haunter does only an average of 12.5 dmg a turn!!! And you have to do Hypnosis every 2 or 3 turns to actually use Dream Eater! PATHETIC! Fossil Haunter has Nightmare, which does only 10, but puts the defender to sleep. This means the defender only has a 50% chance of waking up, and then only a 50% chance of getting through Transparency. So, only 1 out of 4 times does the Defender actually deal damage to Haunter!!!!

Retreat: Basic Haunter has a 1 retreat, Fossil Haunter's is free.

Weakness: Neither have a weakness.

Resistance: They are both resistant to fighting.

Again, the Fossil Haunter wins. Although it has 10 less HP, it only gets attacked 25% of the time, which is almost equivalent to it having 200HP!! Although it does only 10 dmg a turn, the Basic Haunter does about an average of 12 a turn anyway (actually, much less, if you calculate the fact that you have to use Hypnosis before Dream Eater, then it comes out to be an average of about 5 a turn)!! And Fossil Haunter has a 1 less retreat. Fossil Haunter wins by a long shot.

Too many people look at Destiny Bond and say WOW! or look at Dream Eater for 50 dmg and they go nuts. But they don't realize how bad the card really is until it loses for them too many times. Before you praise a card or use a cars, make sure that you take in ALL of the details.
Please, if you want to lose in an arguement with me...I mean...discuss this with me, e-mail me at gamearch007@hotmail.com. Thanks a lot!
