I've been checking the Pojo alot lately, but haven't sent any mail to respond to any of the current arguements. This kinda expresses my opinions on everything that has been argued about lately. Farfetch'd: I play a modernized haymaker, with 3 Hitmonchans, 4 'Buzzes, 2 Tauros, 1 Farfetch'd and 1 Scyther. And the mandatory 4 Bills, 2/3 Oaks (Can't remember) 4 of each ER, 3 GoWs. The ONLY reason I play Farfetch'd and Scyther is because of their Fighting resistance. I like for every Pokemon I play to be basic and have at least 70 HP. Of course, none of the colorless birds meet these requirements. I hope that a good, fighting resistant basic will come out soon. Until then, I'm gonna replace the Farfetch'd and Scyther with 2 Doduos. Weird, but they have no retreat cost and ER doesn't effect them that much. The only real use for Farfetch'd that I see is for Venusaur decks, where the energy can be transfered around. I mean, 30 damage for 3 energy is quite a ripoff, when Hitmonchan can do 40 for 3, and Buzz can do 30 or 40 for 2. Charizard: Charizard can be played in any deck. Charizard has a resistance to fighting. Charizard has 120 HP. Charizard can do 100 damage. Blah, blah, blah. The truth is, Charizard decks succeed greatly against newbies. If your deck focuses on JUST Charizard, with no good basics, any Pokemaster will rip your deck apart. Every good deck that I play against contains at least 4 ER and 2 SER. They USUALLY contain 2 or more GoWs. Gust of Winds and Energy Removals rip right through a Charizard deck. GoW out the Charmander, ER it, proceed to beat the crap out of it with a Hitmonchan. 'nuff said. Not to be bragging, but no one has ever had a Stage 1 Pokemon out against my haymaker for more than 1 turn. They evolve it, I KO it. Trade all your Charizards away. If kids in your area love big fat lizards as much as they do in this area, you'll get about 6 holos for it. Good ones, too. Just as an example, let's do a Charizard vs. Magmar match. I know, it sounds nuts, comparing Charizard to Magmar...But let's do it anyway. Round 1. Let's say Magmar goes first. Magmar gets a fire energy, Charizard gets a fire energy. Round 2. Magmar gets a Fire energy and does Fire Punch for 30. Charizard gets a fire energy. Round 3. Magmar gets a fire energy and does Flamethrower. Charizard gets a fire energy. Round 4. Magmar gets a fire energy and does Flamethrower. Charizard's gone. Of course, if Charizard goes first, he'll win and have 40 HP left. And 2 energy. The next time you make a fire deck, take out those Charmeleons and Charizard, and stick in some Magmars and good trainers. Chansey: Chansey's a nice card. IMO, one of the better colorless basics. Of course, with the best Pokemon TCG decks evolving into fast beat-down decks (Such as haymakers), Chansey is losing popularity and usefullness. I still like it, though. Mr. Mime: What's all this about Mr. Mime being broken? IMO, he's a good card, but not that good. Sure, Blastoise, Venusaur, Charizard can't hurt him..But look at what can. A Staryu kills him in 2 hits. A Jynx usually kills him in 3. A Hitmonchan kills him in 2. I think Mr. Mime is a good card...But not broken. If they want to make something broken, then Electabuzz should be. Or Hitmonchan. But not Mr. Mime. Clefable: OK, Metronome for one energy rocks. Minimize...Well, not bad. But what kind of nut thinks this card will be broken? Maybe they're forgetting that it evolves from one of the weakest basics (Clefairy, who's weak against fighting..A Machop kills it in one hit). Also, 70 HP makes it pretty weak for a Stage 1..Most basics will rip right through it. I don't see Clefable KOing more than 2 pokemon per game...It will die pretty quickly. DEFINETLY not broken. Tauros: Tauros rocks. I don't know why I don't see it in many decks. I mean, at least 20 damage for 1 DC, maybe 30... And a POSSIBLE 70 for 3 energy. I know, Tauros has to be nearly dead to do it, but it has happened to me more than once. Lickitung: I was really dissappointed with this card. 90 HP is nice, Tongue Wrap is a nice attack..But Supersonic and a 3 retreat cost really sucks. Lickitung would be awesome if WotC were to replace Supersonic with a 3 energy, flip 2 coins and 20x the # of heads. And make it's retreat cost 1. I was generally dissappointed with the Jungle expansion...With the exception of Tauros, Raidash, Fearow, Pokeball and Nidoran F, there weren't very many outstanding cards. Well, that's enough of my ranting for today...If you want to argue with me, agree with me, or make a donation of free pokemon cards (Hehe..I wish), send me mail at mathwhiz@powernet.org
