Again with the 2 stage underused Fighting Pokemon. Here comes Sandshrew and
Sandslash. OK lets get to it...

Sandshrew- he was in my first starter deck and I was rather unimpressed.
40HPs makes him a good target to blast. You have to pay 1 to retreat him
which sucks too for such low HPs. Resistance to all those many many many
different Electric pokemon you will encounter out there. And weak to those
Grass guys that no one owns. Totally rad dude. So far Sandshrew is a card to
avoid putting in your deck. On to his attack. For 1 Fighting Energy you are
equipped with Sand-Attack. This will inflict a menacing 10 damage, but has
the ability to prevent all effects (poison, sleep etc. included)and damage
of your opponents next attack. The deal is it has to be the pokemon that
Sandshrew just hit for 10 damage. So if they retreat or switch you get
nailed for sure. But if they don't switch active pokemon when they attempt
an attack they flip a coin. 50/50 chance of all damage and effects avoided.
Kinda nice since he is such a wuss he could use all the help he can can get
in avoiding damage. I'm not too sure what would happen if your opponent hits
Sandshrew with a GOW but retains the same active that was just Sanded in the
eyes. I'm quite sure that your new active still has the luxury of a 50/50
chance of all damage avoided. And another perk is that the enemy won't get
to know ahead of time if their attack will work or not until they declare it
and flip the coin. So a Charizard would still have to discard the 2 Fire
Energy and if you are lucky with his flip the discard was all for nothing.
Other recoil and discard attacks can fall prey to Sandshrew's amazing?
Sand-Attack.

Now on the other hand little Sandshrew can double in size and HPs into
Sandslash. Same weakness, resistance and retreat cost, only now with 70HPs
the retreat is actually a little more useful. For 2 Colorless you can do
Slash for 20, yee-haw nothing special, even with a lucky DCE you still
aren't too stylin'. More up my alley is the Fury Swipes. Costs a cheap 2
Fighting Energy for a nice 20x number of heads on 3 coins, giving you a
possible 0, 20, 40, or 60. 120 if you are lucky and opponent is weak to
fighting. Lots of fun and damage and only 2 energy makes him
semi-expendable. In the case that you need 10 or 20 damage for the kill you
might as well be a little conservative and use Slash for the kill in case
you flip all tails and look like a loser.

OK. These cheap easy to find cards can help out a Fighting deck and although
Sandshrew blows you his Sand-Attack will keep him alive a little longer.
He's an OK starter but a huge liability, best used for a evoing Sandslash
and laying out some heavy damage(maybe) before getting offed. Cool art on
the card for slash, Sandshrew looks like a fat dorky little fag though, and
that is what he is. Although I like him in the cartoon, I could draw a
better card with my eyes closed. Oh well... I gotta go, Flipside all, you
