If you were to rate Expedition Ampharos you probably wouldn't rate it that high.  Take a second look at it though and you might notice it's really good.  Let me show you then I'll tell you the combo.

Ampharos: Stage 2       100 HP
Poke-Power: Energy Connect As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may take a basic Energy card attached to one of your Benched Pokemon and attach it to your Active pokemon.  This power can't be used if Ampharos is affected by a Special Condition.
Lightning Strike (L,L,C,C)     40  Discard all Lightning Energies attached to Ampharos to do 80 instead of 40.
 

The combo here is to do Lightning Strike for 40 while you charge up the bench with Lightning Energies then go for the kill with 80.  After that use Energy Connect next turn to charge Ampharos back up and do the same thing like last turn.  This combo is proven that it works.
