I’m honored to be one of the only individuals to post a Deck with Light
Dragonite. I’m actually pretty shocked that it hasn’t been listed, but it was
made to be posted by me.
This is by-far the best Light Dragonite Deck that you can make. I have seen
many, but this takes the cake and has been by biggest success. I’ll post the
deck and follow-up with the STG:
"Reign of Light²"
Pokèmon - 18
4x Dratini
3x Light Dragonite
4x Eevee
4x Espeon (2-AQ & 2-ND)
1x Tyrogue
1x Elekid
1x Cleffa
Trainèrs - 27
4x Professor Elm
3x Oracle
4x Bill
3x Pokemon Trader
4x Pokemon Breeder
4x Double Gust
4x Nurse
1x TV
Enèrgy – 15
4x Boost
11x Psychic
I have had success with this deck against all major ones. It took me two years
to come up with a strong “Dragon” deck – Boost Energy made it possible. I also
spent every waking hour creating this to defeat Entei/Magcargo and became very
successful at it.
I won’t bore you with intricate details, but I will give an overview.
There is enough-said about Light Dragonite. Stopping all Special Energy is just
pure sw33tn3ss. It takes AQ Scizor right out of the picture and, played
correctly, won’t even get hurt by Muk ( I have always been successful against
Muk) ;).
The Espeon lines are what makes this deck complete OwNaGe. The AQ Espeon is
specifically there to remove the Energy to my hand when I want to use the Nurse.
This make Dragonite survive the best of them. Since Dragonite is fair with
damage, the ND Espeon is there for the masses. Here is where Magcargo never had
a change. You use Entei – end of turn…I use DG and Espe – end of Cargo. Espeon
is also a much feared Pokemon and works very well combined with the AQ Espeon’s
attack. Because of the free retreats on the Espeon line, the deck is very
mobile.
Lastly, the rest of the Pokemon are fairly standard. I really minimize Cleffa,
because having Light Dragonite hitting by turn-2 is my main objective. It’s a
nice back-up when needed. No one can simply have a deck without at least one
Tyrogue and my Elekid is a must against stalling Suicunes, other Water decks,
and my main reason for Focus Bands and AQ Jumpluff.
The Energy is self-sufficient.
Before I ever heard of the Oracle/Bill combo, I had them in my deck. I used Bill
as extra draw and Oracle in tight spots, but as I continued playing, I simply
had the habit of using Oracle followed-up by a bill. It has been the ultimate
sw33tn3ss to this deck. Desert Shaman could be a threat at times, but not much.
Finally, in this format, you can NOT get away with not playing maxed-out Elms
and Double Gust. I usually always max-out on Traders, but this deck shines even
without the 4th.
Is it perfect? No. Can it be improved? Yes – no deck is the ultimate. Every deck
and every player has the “bad day”. Is it worthy? All the way. It is simply the
best deck I have ever had the pleasure to play – and being an ultra-Dragon lover
– this was icing on the cake.
I named this deck based on one of my favorite dragon movies “Reign of Fire”.
Winning in this little contest is no biggy – the plain fact that I got to post
it was well-worth my time.
