Returning home to the ship that failed to crash,
Vash is followed by Wolfwood who is amazed to see
that such a place exists. Vash and Wolfwood are
not met with open arms however, as some of the
people there are still afraid of Vash due to his
past, and everyone is frightened that Wolfwood has
accompanied him, since they believe outsiders are
nothing more than murderous monsters. However,
Knives and Legato will not allow Vash to return to
the place that saved his life without a welcome
home party consisting of death and destruction.
Leonuf the Puppetmaster, Gray the Ninelives, and
Hoppered the Gauntlet have all joined him on the
ship to cause Vash even more suffering.
Packaging
The front cover is not as great as previous ones
have been, but is still cool nonetheless. Vash is
sitting looking to his left holding his gun. This
is actually the image base used for the main menu
on volume 6. The back cover contains as the main
art Vash, Meryl, Wolfwood, and Milly driving in a
car with the flying ship in the background. Of
course screen captures and soliloquies are part of
the back cover as well.
Extras
within the DVD casing are once again a chapter
menu and a contest entry form.
Menu
This has to be my favorite menu yet. It starts as
a photo album, then the album opens to reveal a
picture of Vash and your selections. A beautiful
musical score accompanies this. Once you choose a
section, the pages turn until they reach the one
you have specified. Very nice.
English
I wasn't too thrilled with how the English version
turned out with these episodes. The problem did
not lie with how the voices sounded (for the most
part) but rather in the fact that these episodes
were supposed to be very meaningful and this
message was lost in how the English version was
created. I didn't have a problem with any of the
voices except for the one chosen to portray
Hoppered the Gauntlet. Try to imagine a drunk
door-to-door salesman from the 1930s and you will
hear the voice for Hoppered the Gauntlet's English
VA. It was just horrible, but I guess it is good
this character only appears in one
episode.
Japanese
Same perfection, everything great, nothing to
complain about, but nothing to praise either.
Extras
Three extras appear on this DVD. They are the same
genre of extras that were included with volume 6.
The first is "Japanese VHS Covers".
Seven great images used for the Japanese VHS
release of the Trigun series are shown, some of
which are the images we were given for the DVD
release here in the States. The following extra is
"Villians 2", character designs for the
villians from volume 4 to 7. These total 28
images. Lastly are "DVD Credits" which
are just as they always have been.
Final
Thoughts
Much more of Vash's past is revealed, along with
his hidden powers (the ones he used to stop the
plant from exploding in volume 2). The series is
soon drawing to a close and this volume is crucial
in order to finish this great series. I highly
recommend picking up a copy. Later minna!
