2nd card of the week is the "Genesis for hipsters" card, Yatagarasu. Starting from the top, Late Game, when she attacks, you Soulblast a whopping NINE cards to stand 2 rear-guards and draw 2 cards. Ouch, that is a rather hefty cost all things considered. Examining just that ability, you know that you are now +2 up. You then stand an entire column (most likely scenario given that standing just the front row will more often than not even scratch the Vanguard) or in the best case scenario Vermillion the field for cheap by having them attack the opponent's front row.

That's rather high cost though, which is where her 2nd skill comes in. When you guard, one of the guardians used can be moved to the soul instead of going to the drop zone. That's a fairly neat way to bait people into attacking interceptors like Grappa who then move to the soul to use their skills, or just by racking up soul for a best case scenario +4.

However, of course it warrants comparison to Minerva. Recapping, Minerva pitches 3 from hand. The opponent then -2s at least blocking Minerva's 2nd attack. You Twin Drive again. So you +1 overall.

Yatagarasu in an average scenario draws 2 and stands a column to be blocked for 10k assuming no triggers. So it's a +3. Sounds like Yatagarasu's better. But wait, Yata costs 3 times as much. Minerva on the other hand (assuming the game even drags on long enough to USE Minerva three times) can achieve similar card advantage results using her skill 3 times, and even then Minerva can pay much more easily over the couse of the game, rather than packing it all into one turn.

Yata isn't horrible and it's nice that she sort of takes initiative, but I'd rather convert soul into something for offense rather than draw and prolong the game.

Um, wow, soul blast of nine?!  That effect better be worth it.

Draw 2 and then restand two rear guards.

Hmm...  I really think that the effect is way over-costed for what it does.  I might be missing something, I know that later on there will be a Grade 2 that gives your vanguard extra attack when soul blasted, but I don't know if there's one that does that right now.  Even for Genesis, the Soul Blast of 9 is a VERY steep cost.

I do like the skill that isn't a limit break though, as it both encourages and rewards you for guarding every time.

Really, it might just be a better idea to use her to build up the soul for Minerva and use Minerva to finish your opponent off.
