If heads, prevent all dam. done to Wartortle during your opponent's next turn. (Any other effects of attacks still happen.) Attack: [2W] Bite (40) Name: Blastoise Type: Stage 2 -- from Wartortle Card #: card 2 of 102 Rarity: Rare - Holo Color: Water HP: 100 HP Weakness: L Resistance: none Retreat: 3 Pokemon #: 9 Species: Shellfish Level: 52 Power: "Rain Dance" As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may attach 1 Water Energy Card to 1 of your Water Pokemon. (This doesn't use up your 1 Energy card attachment for the turn.) This power can't be used if Blastoise is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. Attack: [WWW] Hydro Pump (40+) Does 40 dam. plus 10 dam. for each W attached to Blastoise but not used to pay for this attack (max 2 extra). History: Squirtle is a tiny turtle Pokemon. As it evolves, it gets better and better at swimming. Wartortle has special rudder fins to help propel it along the water, and Blastoise has 2 giant water cannons placed on its back. It's one of the Pokemon you can get from Professor Oak in the gameboy game. In the Pokemon cartoon, Ash befriended one of these shortly after Cerulean City. To this day, it is still a Squirtle, not ready to become a Wartortle or Blastoise. Strategy: As a tiny turtle, Squirtle is mainly used to Bubble, which stalls for time until you get Wartortle, who can bite. Bite is a strong attack, but eventually you want to replace it with Blastoise. Blastoise, in addition to an attack which can go up to 60 damage, also has a Power which makes it able to get to that WWWWW as quickly as possible. Blastoise can also augment Pokemon when it's in the back, making easy Dragon Rages or Ice Beams possible. Strengths: -For 2W Bite is a strong attack, and Bubble is good for stalling (50% Paralyze). -Withdraw might make Wartortle a candidate for walling. (But there are better walls out there.) -Rain Dance! Instant Hydro Pumps and Bubblebeams. -Hydro Pump has damage Potential of 60, while still being quite cheap (WWW at least) Weaknesses: -Blastoise stage is when the _real_ power comes in - a stage 2. -Rain Dancing requires a water-dominating deck - which is vulnerable to Lightning. (Unless you throw in more Stage 2 Evolutions or weak Magikarps) -Withdraw isn't very useful with Squirtle (who usually uses Bubble anyway, sorta like an Withdraw with limitations) Combos: Blastoise + Oak/Bill - More Energy for Rain Dancing Blastoise + Super Energy Removal/Super Potion - SER hurts you less than the opponent, SP doesn't hurt development Blastoise + Gyarados/Dewgong - Instant Bubblebeam/Aurora Beam! Blastoise + Starmie - Recover isn't hampered by lack of ability to produce energy anymore (however, lack of energy still exists) Ratings: Squirtle: Jonathan Ng: 8.0 Zachary Price: 8.5 Joseph McReynolds: 8.5 Average: 8.33 Wartortle: Jonathan Ng: 8.0 Zachary Price: 9.0 Joseph McReynolds: 8.5 Average: 8.5 Blastoise: Jonathan Ng: 8.5 Zachary Price: 9.0 Joseph McReynolds: 9.5 Average: 9.0 Please Post or Mail with comments and ratings.
