Archive January 2005 - June 2005

Friday, June 17, 2005   From SuperSaiyanTrunks: ""Just wanted to let you all know that Dragon Ball Z is back on Cartoon Network at 10:30 PM. They started Tuesday, June 14, so you can still see some good episodes. As an added treat, there showing the Uncut Episodes. Remember, even though I'm not writing until the new game comes out, you can still email me at DBZreviewer@yahoo.com, and I will answer all of your DB/DBZ/DBGT questions.""

Here's a terrific walk through DBZ: Legacy of Goku by Dark Vortex.

Friday, June 10, 2005   Exclusive Online Trailer for Dragon Ball Z Movie – Bio Broly - Check it out on www.dragonballz.com

Tuesday, May 24, 2005  Gamespot has a sneak peek at Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi.  It looks pretty cool.

From SuperSaiyanTrunks: "I have not stopped writing articles, I'm just taking a little break until the new DBZ game comes out. As soon as the COTD starts up, I'll start writing more."

Monday, May 16, 2005  Matthew Low is speaking out today with his thoughts on Score's decision to axe their old DBZ Collectible Card Game and come out with a completely new/revised version.  Matthew's article is titled:  "Out with the Old, In with the New", and it will be his last article until the new game comes out.

Pojo Note:  I just want to thank Matthew for all the work he did here helping people, and all the assistance he gave me on the original DBZ CCG.  I was a collector, not a player, and Matthew helped me understand a lot of stuff over the last couple of years.  Thanks Matthew!  - Bill  (It still sucks that my old collection is fireplace kindling now though  ;-)

Thursday, May 12, 2005  Well, here's some pretty big DBZ & Anime News: "NAVARRE CORPORATION ACQUIRES FUNIMATION.  Navarre Corporation (NASDAQ: NAVR) a leading publisher and distributor of a broad range of home entertainment and multimedia software products, today announced that it has acquired all general and limited partnership interests in FUNimation Productions, Ltd. and The FUNimation Store, Ltd."  Here's the link to the full Press Release

Friday, May 06, 2005  We asked for your thoughts regarding Score's decision to disallow the use of older cards in future DBZ TCG Tournaments.  Today we got an editorial from Dennise Belden.

Our DBZ Card of the Day is Majin's Perfect Defense. Super Saiyan Trunks has a review.

Wednesday, May 04, 2005  Score sent out an email to TCG players on their Mailing List last night with details about changes to their revised DBZ Trading Card Game.  We posted all the contents of the email in our News Section today.  The Keynote: "only new DBZ cards will be legal at any sanctioned events"

What's my take on this announcement from Score?  For Collectors & Collector/Players, this pretty much sucks.  Really rare cards are still rare, but players won't need old rare card any more ... so their prices are going to fall like a lead balloon, and that's too bad.

Still Playable at Official Tournaments, in some form, and still collectible:

  • Black Lotus - Magic The Gathering - playable

  • Base Set: First Edition Charizard - Pokemon - playable

  • Black Luster Soldier - YuGiOh - playable

  • Goku's Blinding Strike - DBZ - Now it just looks cool

If anyone wants to chime in with their thoughts on this, feel free to send us emails.  We'll post them all.  I think Matthew Low will write something up in the near future as well.

Regarding Pojo's DBZ Card of the Day.  We are going to stop posting Card of the Day for DBZ until the new game hits the streets.  It seems rather pointless to continue with a Dead Game.
