CN First Place in Total Day Ratings Since '95.. ¤
• For the first time since 1995,
Cartoon Network achieved first place in total day household ratings (1.3,
tied with Nickelodeon) among all ad-supported cable networks for the week
of June 11-17. The network also won the weekly ratings race for key kid
demos and tied for first place (with Nickelodeon) with tweens 9-14. In
fact, ratings and delivery for kids 6-11 and kids 2-11 set new weekly
network records. Tweens 9-14 also hit a new total day delivery record.
In addition, household delivery charted its highest marks in network history.

Posting another strong week

second place (with Lifetime) with a 1.8 household rating. Compared to
the same time period last year, household ratings were unchanged, while
kids 6-11 ratings increased 17 percent and kids 2-11 ratings rose 7 percent.
Delivery also increased 16 percent with households, 28 percent with kids
6-11 and 17 percent with kids 2-11. Importantly, 14 Cartoon Network prime
time programs charted among the top 50 basic cable ad-supported programs
last week.
Programming highlights for
the week include The Powerpuff Girls' Father's Day "Papathon" (Sunday,
June 17, 12-7 p.m.), a salute to Cartoon Network's most popular pop, Professor
Utonium, who created the superhero trio, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.
Compared to the same time period last year, the marathon posted a dramatic
92 percent ratings increase in tweens 9-14, while delivery more than doubled,
from 197,000 to 418,000 viewers. A total of 7,590,000 different viewers
tuned into the Father's Day special.

Along with the network’s record
numbers, CartoonNetwork.com continues to post increases across the board.
For the month of May ‘01, the Web site received 2,583,000 total unique
visitors, up 133 percent vs. May ’00. For the third consecutive month,
CartoonNetwork.com beat Nick.com, in May by 625,000 more unique visitors.
Additionally, year to year, average time spent on site per person (stickiness)
improved by 13 minutes and 30 seconds (from 25:30 to 39:00), outperforming
Nick.com by 13 minutes and 6 seconds (Media Metrix).
SPreliminary reports for June
indicate strong numbers, due in part to the Web site’s collaboration with
recording artists Sugar Ray as well as a promotion with the Kids’ WB in
Cartoon Orbit, the Web site’s online community for kids.

Rage
Like we reported 2 weeks ago,
- "Dragon Ball Z, the highest-rated program in Cartoon Network's
popular Toonami block, blazes all expectations. DBZ ratings earned triple-digit
increases across kid, tween and teen demographics with the airing of Z-Day
on May 25th. Compared to the same time period last year, kids 6-11 ratings
increased 146%, tweens 9-14 ratings increased 125%, while teens 12-17
increased 100% and boys 9-14 ratings increased 144%. "Dragon Ball Z is
an immensely popular program. To see this type of growth is amazing and
a great testimony to the strength of the series," notes Gen Fukunaga,
President of FUNimation, which introduced Dragon Ball Z to North America."
This is just a reminder: Lord Slug, the newest Dragon Ball Z movie to
be released by FUNimation, will hit the market August 7, 2001. Lord Slug
is a thrill ride as the mysterious villain has emerged from an asteroid
and is an enemy to the earth. There is a good chance that Lord Slug will
release on VHS and DVD simultaneously. This is not official and things
could change, with the DVD following shortly behind the VHS release. FUNimation
is doing everything to ensure a simultaneous release. We will keep you
posted here when things are final. Look for Lord Slug at the www.dbzstore.com and retailers near you. Source

"Here is an official press release from Infogrames about one of the new
Dragon Ball Z games. Very exciting news!
INFOGRAMES, INC. REVEALS ITS FIRST DRAGON BALL Z® GAME, THE LEGACY OF
GOKU® Phenomenally Popular Property Headed to Game Boy® Advance This Winter
PLYMOUTH, MN, June 5, 2001 - Unveiling the first details surrounding its
lineup of eagerly anticipated video games based on the Dragon Ball Z®
property, WizardWorks, a division of Infogrames, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFGM) announced
today The Legacy of Goku® for the Game Boy® Advance. Developed by Webfoot™
Technologies, Inc., The Legacy of Goku® is an action-adventure game complimented
by engaging role-playing elements, that challenges players to defeat enemies
throughout various quests in an effort to save Earth from the Saiyans,
and save the galaxy from the evil Frieza. As the story unfolds, players
explore vast lands and interact with numerous characters as they attempt
to complete their quest.
"Dragon Ball Z® has a loyal following in the millions, and our primary
goal with The Legacy of Goku® is to provide them with a compelling interactive
game that stays true to the cartoon series," said Paul Rinde, senior vice
president and general manager of WizardWorks. "To that end, we've incorporated
the same distinctive visual style and deep character development, and
combined them with proven game features such as multi-play and dynamic
story telling."
In The Legacy of Goku®, the kidnapping of Goku's son sets off a chain
of events that ultimately threatens the safety of the galaxy. Powerful
alien forces converge on Earth to acquire the powerful Dragon Balls --
objects which when brought together grant the possessor a single wish.
Ultimately, the stage moves to the distant planet of Namek, one of the
sources of the Dragon Balls, where an entity of mind-boggling strength,
Frieza, is preparing to gain immortality by enslaving the galaxy. It's
up to Goku and his friends to stop Frieza before it's too late.
Throughout The Legacy of Goku®, players can build up and maximize their
character's powers to aid their quest during future battles. Success in
combat depends on mastering the balance of Melee versus Ki fighting. In
story mode, the primary mode of single-player action, players move from
chapter to chapter, completing quests and fighting battles. However, gamers
can also play several chapters at once, simultaneously controlling different
characters and accomplishing different tasks."

Toonami.com updates FAQ section The Official Toonami.com Site has updated
their faq section after a long-long time. There was very little new information
released, but they cleared up a lot of question that were haunting Toonami
fans. They also announced that "This September , Tom and Sara will be
involved in a five part, interactive adventure in which the very fate
of Toonami will be at stake." The good news for Sailor fans is "Toonami
will be airing all three of the Sailor Moon movies - Sailor Moon R, Sailor
Moon S, and Sailor Moon Super S - this year." Looks like the Sailor Movies
will make it to Toonami afterall. You can read all your questions and

Trigun Assembling It's Way
To CN Another company has semi-confirmed that Trigun may air on Cartoon
Network in the near future. Here is the official word from TOKYOPOP.com
"Get set for the "tampede" as the sound of techno cowboy music prepares
to rock your stereo. This is hardly a honky-tonk with shades of hip hop
and electronica to go with that western style. And that's how it should
be for the intergalactic adventures of Vash the Stampede in Trigun, the
hit anime seen on Cartoon Network and distributed by Pioneer Entertainment.
Thankfully though, you don't have to spend $60,000,000,000 to get it."
from -http://www2.tokyopop.com/products/soundtrax/index.php?pid=trigun
TokyoPop has scored the rights to release the Trigun Soundtrack in America.
It will be released on August 23, and sell for an SRP of 14.95$ The liner
notes will be in English, however it is not known yet if this soundtrack
will be The first Donuts CD or a mix of both Japanese Trigun soundtracks.
I'am still kinda unconvinced that Trigun will come to Cartoon Network
soon, may be it was a typo. Now with the merge of Toonami with WB, this
looks kinda unworkable. But I would defiantly like to witness Trigun on
Cartoon Network. Source: http://www2.tokyopop.com/products/soundtrax/index.php?pid=trigun
