TEACHINGS OF A FATHER By Saiya-jinVegeta Vegeta shut the fridge and walked over the kitchen table, three sandwiches and a bottle of water in his arms. As he sat down, Gokou walked in from the door next to the fridge and sat next to Vegeta. "Nice try today Vegeta," Gokou laughed. Vegeta ignored him as he shoved sandwich into his mouth. "Surly you knew that I was going to win again?" Vegeta forced his anger down and pretended that Gokou wasn't even there. He pulled the towel off from around his neck and dropped in onto the table. "Poor, poor Vegeta. You just can't seem---," Gokou tried to say. Vegeta slammed down his food and jumped to his feet. He pointed his finger at Gokou. "Ge…G stf, Ka..Kakao!" "HAHAHA! Swallow your food first Vegeta." "GLUP! I said, get stuffed Kakarotto!" "Heh." "You only won today because I'm not feeling 100%. I didn't get enough sleep last night. That damn woman snoring!" Vegeta knew he was lying to Gokou. He had challenged Gokou to a fight in the back yard earlier in the morning. He was confident he had been training much harder than he had. Once again though, he was defeated. "Tomorrow's another day, Kakarotto! So be prepared." With that said he left the kitchen, food in hand and headed for the lounge room. Bulma stepped into the kitchen where Gokou was still sitting. He jumped up in freight and rubbed his head. "Gokou, where has Vegeta gone," she asked the warrior. "To the lounge room." Bulma pushed open the door and watched as Vegeta stuffed his face. She smiled and started to laugh at him. He dropped his food and looked angrily at her. "What's your problem?" "I just can't believe you actually know how to make your own food." "Humph! What do you want?" "Someone is waiting outside to see you out back." "Huh? Who." "Just go. He doesn't want the others to know he's here." Vegeta cursed under his breath and pushed his tired to his feet. As he walked past Bulma, she was still giggling to herself. Vegeta walked past Gokou and straight out into the backyard. His eyes winded in surprise at the figure before him. "TRUNKS?!" "Hi, Tousan." Trunks walked over to his father and shook his hand. "It's been a while." "Yeah. It has. You're looking good. I see you are keeping up with your training." "Hai." "So, what brings you back here?" "I wanted to see you and hopefully have a nice reunion you with you. If you know what I mean?" "Heh. Let's go." They both started to walk towards Vegeta's gravity machine. "But why Trunks?" "I've entered an intergalactic Tournament in the Martial Arts. I thought, for some of my training I'd come back here and see how much stronger you've become." "Let's find out shall we." Vegeta opened the door to the machine and motioned for his son to enter first. He followed. Once inside, Vegeta turned the gravity machine up to it's maximum and got into a fighting stance, a smile on his face. Trunks did the same. They slowly circled each other for about 10 seconds until Trunks made the first move. He dashed off from his spot and charged at his father. Vegeta prepared to block the first attack, which surprisedly came from behind. Trunks' elbow slammed full force into Vegeta's back, which threw him forward against the wall. He got to his feet and turned around. "Heh. Not bad." He flared up to Super Saiya-jin 2, Trunks not far behind. They both ran at each other and unleased everything they had. Vegeta was doing most of the attacking, surprised at his son's increased speed. Trunks, was fending off everything Vegeta had. Every kick and every punch was blocked or dodged. Vegeta needed to change tactics. He threw a mock punch and then faded to Trunks' side and planted his knee into his gut. Trunks reared from the blow but came back with a powerful punch to his father's jaw. Vegeta stumbled back, as did Trunks. The proud Saiya-jin wiped his mouth and realised the punch had drawn his blood. "Damn you boy. I had no idea how much faster and stronger you'd gotten." "A bit much for you, Tousan. Heh. No wonder Gokou-san can beat you." Vegeta looked sharply at his son. That tore it. He couldn't stand being told he was weaker than Gokou. Even though he knew it was true. Vegeta powered up again and shouted a whole lot of disses at his son before shooting up into the air and lunching a huge Final Flash, which Trunks barely avoided. Trunks faded out and then in behind Vegeta. Vegeta ducked a kick and then grabbed the leg as he turned around. He head-butted Trunks twice and then threw him into the wall. As his son's body began to fall he flew at it. He executed a perfect roundhouse kick to Trunks' head but found it was blocked and then counted by a double-handed blow that sent him crashing to the ground. Trunks slowly floated down to the ground and landed next to his father's unmoving body. Father, he said to himself, have I beaten you this easily. Vegeta lay under the shattered ground, a smile on his face. He jumped up out of the rubble and gripped his son around the waste. "TRUNKS!" Vegeta shouted, flying up into the air his son in tow, "NEVER DROP YOUR GUARD!" "TOUSSSSSSAN!" Vegeta slammed Trunks into the ceiling and then flew straight down into the floor. He stepped back a few feet as Trunks stumbled to his feet. He let loose a barrage of energy balls at his father. Each one was dodged with ease. Vegeta replied with his own set of fireballs, which rammed Trunks, hard, up against the wall. Vegeta walked over to his injured opponent and kicked him the side then spun around, his fist swiping across Trunks' chin. He fell to his knees. Vegeta knew he had won. He helped his son up and took him out of the gravity room. "Trunks, you put up a good fight, that tournament is as good as won." Trunks smiled at his father's comment and gave him the thumbs up. After a quick eating of senzu beans, the two flew off into the distance to spend some time together. Father and son. END
