Pojo's Dragonball - What If?
What If Goku Let Raditz Live?
Jan 7, 2008 - by deadpool992

Raditz would have lived with Goku and he would hate it. However, Goku would force him to train with him and the others to defeat Vegeta and Nappa. During the year that followed, however, Raditz would grow to love his newfound family, friends, and planet and would put his life on the line to protect it. When Vegeta and Nappa arrived, Goku, Raditz, and Piccolo would fight them. The Saibamen would also appear, but they would be no match for the remaining Z-Fighters as they all were stronger in this reality. Raditz would be battling Nappa and they would be of equal strength. Vegeta would still be stronger that Goku, but both Goku and Piccolo’s abilities combined would prove to be a tough match.

After the Saibamen were defeated, Krillin and Gohan would attack Nappa, distracting him long enough for Raditz to kill him. Raditz would then join the battle against Vegeta. When Vegeta would transform into his Great Ape form, Raditz would too and they would fight while Goku charged up a Super Kamehameha. Raditz would sacrifice himself to defeat Vegeta and Vegeta would be extremely injured. Goku would almost kill Vegeta after his brother’s death, making Vegeta use a Galick Gun to hurt Goku while he escaped to Planet Frieza.

The Z-Fighters decided to find the Dragon Balls to wish Raditz back. After Raditz is revived, Kami tells the Z-Fighters that Frieza is attacking Namek. Goku, Piccolo, and Krillin would go to Namek while the others would stay behind in case Vegeta would return. Since the Z-Fighters took time looking for the Dragon Balls on Earth, Frieza now has all of the Namekian Dragon Balls and has summoned Porunga by the time Goku arrives. Frieza would become immortal. Goku and Piccolo would fight Frieza’s warriors while Krillin would attempt to send a message back to Earth telling the others that they need help. However, Vegeta would arrive and kill Krillin and discover that Frieza was immortal. Since Frieza didn’t make any more wishes, Vegeta wishes that he were immortal also. Vegeta would form an alliance with Frieza and they would kill Goku. Piccolo would retreat back to Earth and after destroying Namek, Vegeta and Frieza would follow him.

Back on Earth, the others are confused as to why they can’t sense Goku and Krillin. When Piccolo appears, he tells the others that Goku and Krillin have been killed and Frieza and Vegeta are planning an all out invasion of Earth. Without Goku, all hope seems to be lost. However, Raditz tells the others to continue training and that they could defeat them. When Frieza and Vegeta arrive, all hell breaks loose. Frieza’s army kills thousands when they first arrive. Raditz, Piccolo, and Gohan battle Frieza while the others battle Vegeta. During the battle with Vegeta, Goku sends a telepathic message to Tien. He tells him that King Kai told him that Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta. Tien reveals this information to Vegeta. However, Vegeta refuses to believe this and he kills him and the others.

Meanwhile, Raditz, Piccolo, and Gohan aren’t doing too well against Frieza. Vegeta decides to go help Frieza. But Frieza, who doesn’t know that Vegeta is immortal, attempts to betray his partner by firing a Death Beam at him. This doesn’t settle well with Vegeta and the two begin to battle. Piccolo asks Kami if he can open the Dead Zone so he could send both of them there. He does and all three of them fire a huge Ki Blast that knocks both Frieza and Vegeta into the Dead Zone. The battle has been won, but they soon discover that everyone else besides them had been killed. Also, they discover that Garlic Jr. has been released from the Dead Zone.

While Bulma searches for the Dragon Balls, Raditz, Piccolo, and Gohan battle Garlic Jr. He is sent back to the Dead Zone again. When everyone who was killed by Frieza and Vegeta are brought back (except Krillin and Chiaotzu), they decide to continue to train. A year later, Androids 19 and 20 appear and the Z-Fighters battle them. Goku, who learned he could turn Super Sayian while he was in Otherworld, kills Android 19, but he collapses from the heart virus. Luckily, Raditz battles Android 20, but he escapes back to his lab. Raditz follows him and destroys his entire lab, including Android 20.

While Goku lay dying, Raditz searches for the Dragon Balls to wish that Goku were cured. When Goku recovers, he decides to train Raditz and Gohan how to turn Super Sayian. Seven years later, Buu appears and fights the Z-Fighters. They are no match for him and only Goku, Gohan, Tien, Piccolo, and Raditz are left. Tien had lost his arm during the fight and he uses the last of his energy to fire a Dodonpa. Raditz uses this opportunity to teleport to the Sun with Buu. This causes both of them to perish. The Z-Fighters wish back all those who were killed back to life. However, Raditz decides to stay in Otherworld. The Earth rebuilds and Goku continues to train.

when i realized something.  The only reason Frieza chooses namek to go to is because when vegeta comes they tell nappa that he cant kill piccolo because if he dies then the dragonballs die aswell.  Vegeta hypothesizes that since piccolo is from another planet than there must be dragonballs on that planet too.  In this story line, nappa has his hands full with raditz so he doesnt get to piccolo.  Vegeta never hears about the dragon balls.  It doesnt get into his scouter. and frieza never finds out.  Frieza could care less about what happens to vegeta and Nappa so he wouldnt go to earth to clean up either.  If raditz stayed alive, frieza wouldnt be a part of the story - Madison
