I'm in a hurry today!  So's our card!  This is strangely fitting, but I assure you I didn't plan for it to work out like this!  I'm not happy about it either.  I AM happy to announce I'll be able to make it to a tourney this weekend, so expect a report next week!  Anyhow, today we review a really fast guy!

Pyrofighter Magnus

Cost:  3

Civilization:  Fire

Card Type:  Creature
Race:  Dragonoid

  • Speed attacker (This creature doesn't get summoning sickness.)
  • At the end of your turn, return this creature to your hand.

Flavor Text:  At maximum speed, he reaches escape velocity and teleports to a whole new dimension . . . but which one?

Power: 3000

Mana Generated: 1

Rarity:  Common

Card Number:  85/110
Set:  Stomp-a-Trons of Invincible Wrath

This guy is, IMO one of the best cards in this set.  Let's examine why:

Civilization/Race:  A Fire monster, and a Dragonoid.  It is nice to be a dragonoid right now.  They have a VERY nice new evolution out, and this guy is pretty good evo bait.  Nothing wrong with being a dragonoid (except that they'd rather be dragons).

Cost:  He costs three mana, which means he'd do well in a fire/??? rush deck.  Then there's his ability, which makes him GOD in a rush deck.  His cost is low, and good for evo'ing.  This guy is respectable.

Power:  His cost to power level is spot on.  3000 power is nice, able to run over most early-game tapped creatures like Horrid Worms and Bronze-Arm Tribes and the like.  He is susceptable to most destruction spells that have shield trigger, but not to anything else.  Why is this?

Ability(s):  Firstly, he has speed attacker.  He can attack as soon as he is summoned.  Great for rush decks, and good for throwing off your opponent's strategy.  And great for screwing over control decks ;)

Oh, and he also returns to your hand at the end of the turn.  This means you'll have to recast him every turn, and that you won't get any field advantage.  It also makes this guy immune to most destruction spells.  It means your opponent won't destroy him as a result of battle unless you run into a blocker.  This ability makes this guy great for hit and run strikes.

Now that we've looked at these stats, let's see how they stack up!

Constructed Overview:  In a rush deck, or a Dragonoid deck, this guy ROCKS your world.  In any other deck, you might want to look elsewhere.  The fact he provides no lasting field advantage hurts him, as does the fact that once your opponent summons a good size blocker that you're screwed.  Still, a rush deck loves a guy like this, and control HATES him.  Try him out.  You might like him.  4/5

Limited Overview:  TAKE HIM!!!!!  This guy rocks your socks here, and there is NO GOOD REASON not to take him.  Except for, "I didn't pull any."  5/5

See you next week!

Pyrofighter Magnus

Type: Creature
Civilization: Fire
Race: Dragonoid
Mana Cost: Three
Rules Text:
Speed attacker. At the end of your turn, return this creature to your hand.
Flavor Text:
At maximum speed, he reaches escape velocity and teleports to a whole new dimension . . . but which one?
Power: 3000
Rarity: Common
Set: Stompatrons of Invincible Wrath

Power/Cost: Three mana buys you 3k attack power. That means he can bust out strong in the early game. Pyrofighter Magnus delivers a solid 1:1 ratio in this category. Definitely worth using this card so far.

Civilization/Race: Not much to report here. His Speed Attacker effect is typical of the Fire Civilization. The Dragonoid race has one evolution right now (Lava Walker Executo). I believe they become more powerful down the road.

Effects: Pyrofighter Magnus comes right out swinging. Speed Attacker to go along with his 3k power is just insane. Not many creatures can catch your opponent off-guard so easily. But that’s not all! He also returns to the safety of your hand at the end of your turn. At first glance, this looks like a negative effect. However, the hit-and-run ability keeps him safe from kill spells and creature attacks. Overall he is a very effective card that I don’t enjoy going up against.

Limited Ranking: 4.5/5
Constructed Ranking: 4.5/5

I did not have time to write a tournament report for last weekend’s Marathon at Galactic Quest. The next two weeks coming up I may not write tournament reports either because of soccer games. Sorry.

Elk Pyrofighter Magnus Review

Ahh, Pyrofighter Magnus!! One of my favorites!! Let me tell you why he's one of my favorites.

Pyrofighter Magnus
Cost: 3
Civilization: Fire
Type: Creature
Race: Dragonoid
-Speed attacker.
-At the end of your turn, return this creature to your hand.
Flavor Text: At maximum speed, he reaches escape velocity and teleports to a

whole new dimension . . . but which one?
Power: 3000
Rarity: Common

Ok, did you see that? Speed Attacker! I thought since speed attackers are so

valuable they're attack power would be low. But this guy's power is 3000!
But, there is one drawback, he goes back into your hand at the end of your turn. Wait, did I say drawback? Well, technically it is a drawback, because he goes "back" into your hand at the end of your turn, which is kinda like "drawing" a card. But anyway his effect is pretty friggin' good. He goes back into your hand, which will prevent him from being attacked by a Poisonous Dahlia, or slayed by Belbetphlo.

An effect this good can't come without a weakness. Control decks heavy on discard will totally disable this card. That is probably why this card is a common.

Many combo's can be utilized with this card. If anybody wants to try out Sopian, you could make this guy unblockable. This card can be used with Brutal Charge, Miracle Quest, and Rumble Gate to get an early advantage over

your opponent. But one combo I say never use with this amazing Dragonoid is Migasa, Adept of Chaos. He is one of the worst cards in the Stomp-a-Trons set. Tapping Migasa will give one of your creature's double breaker, but since you must tap him you haven't gained anything. You could have just attacked with him. Als if you know your opponent is packin' discard, use Daidaldos to sac Pyrofighter so your opponent can't Horrid Worm him.

Well, thats my two cents on Pyrofighter Magnus. As you can see he is one of my favorites, but not my most favorite. That spot belongs to another little tool!

Constructed 4/5
Limited 4/5
Art 5/5 (what is it with the art on these stomp a trons cards?!?!)
