DRY 1337

I guess we’ll continue the COTDs with another Old-Card-Binge-Week.  Tornado Flame is still holding strong in several decks…

Tornado Flame

Cost: 5

Civilization: Fire

Type: Spell

Rules Text:

·         Shield trigger

·         Destroy 1 of your opponent’s creatures that has power 4000 or less.

It’s easy to review a card like this because of its long history.  Tornado Flame has been an effective solution for several decks.  Although limited in its ability to destroy, it still packs a very nice punch.  Just kill anything that is power 4000 or less with no strings attached.  The only issue is that the mana cost is fairly high, so several decks will find that it gets in the way.  The other thing is that if you pay just 1 more mana you could be casting a Terror Pit.

The Good:  When Tornado Flame is in your shields you have a good chance to kill something.  It is also good for players who do not have Terror Pits

The Bad:  The 4000 power restriction is not the greatest thing.

The Ugly:  There are better things to play on turn 5

Constructed Rating: 4/5 –  I’m not gonna hate just because Terror Pit is better.  This card is good at what it’s designed to do and has saved my neck several times.

Limited Rating: 4/5 – Effective shield triggers are difficult to find in limited.  This will help to stop your opponent in his/her tracks.

Please feel free to post your comments, questions, and/or objections on the Message Board and I’ll be more than happy to respond.  Happy dueling!

Ice Dragon X Name: Tornado Flame
Cost: 5
Civilization: Fire
Type: Spell
Rules Text:
Shield trigger (When this spell is put into your hand from your shield zone, you may cast it immediately for no cost.) Destroy 1 of your opponent's creatures that has power 4000 or less.
Mana Number: 1
Artist: Soushi Hirose
Rarity: U
Collector Number: 88
Set: Base Set

So one of the majorly played spells back in the base set, back then all creature removal was welcomed, but up to this day we got tons of removal spells to choose from like the new Miraculous Rebirth or its cheap self Phantoms Dragons Flame witch ill be reviewing next time tornado flame is still played by many people that want a good creature removal, in a mono fire deck this is one of the best.
I personally don't like this card as I am a darkness Player and darkness has stuff like terror pit and Hopeless vortex witch have no power limitations.

Constructed 3/5 its another creature removal great

Limited 5/5 Creature removal is really great here

~the King~ ok, this is my first review, so here we go....
this is acctually one of the first fire spells that i ever saw. seriously. so lets break it down shall we?

Tornado Flame

fire
cost: five
sheild trigger
destroy one of your opponents creatures that has power 4000 or less

ok....this thing realy isn't that bad.It cost 5 hand cost to get rid of any one of your opponents creatures power 4000 or less. but wait...whats more? its a sheild trigger! any one who has ever talked to me will realize that i love sheild triggers. but in any case- i dont see this around that much. i guess other cards just put this outa' style- lets face it, its stable, but other "better" cards can be put in a deck instead of this.

But, IMO, its a great creature removal card for fire.

constructed: 3.5/5 (good and stable, just their are better choices...)
limited: 4/5 (back to base set and BAM a great creature remover)
art 2.5/5 intresting...but odd.
