DRY 1337

Terradragon Dakma Balgarow follows in the footsteps of the creatures from the Fatal Brood set, in that it grows in power depending on a specific condition.  The number to remember is seven.  As long as there are seven shields out this creature gets Triple Breaker.  Here are the stats:

Terradragon Dakma Balgarow

Cost: 7

Race: Earth Dragon

Civilization: Nature

Type: Creature

Rules Text:

·         This creature gets +2000 power for each shield you and your opponent have.
While this creature has power 6000 or more, it has "Double breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields)."

·         While this creature has power 15000 or more, it has "triple breaker" instead of "double breaker." (It breaks 3 shields)

Power: 1,000

The fact that this creature is from the Nature Civilization makes it all the more fearsome.  If you can rush this creature out by turn 5 and slam 3 of your opponent’s shields with it, then all you need is its Double Breaker ability.  On top of that if you summon it when no shields have been broken then this creature is at 21,000 power!!!  The main purpose of summoning a Triple Breaker is to finish the game quickly and this creature can definitely do the job.

A lot of people will immediately think of throwing Dakma Balgarow in a shield manipulation deck and while it’s a good idea, in the end you’re losing this creature’s true potential and reducing its game-winning speed.  It’s easier to win when you keep the game simple, which is why rush decks are so successful.  This guy will deliver the one-two punch during its first 2 attacks and will allow one of your happy little Bronze Arm Tribes to finish the game.  Could you just imagine if you had Mykee’s Pliers out when summoning this thing?  Hello!

One great thing to remember is that this creature can evolve into Terradragon Balias Gale.  So if both you and your opponent are hammering away at each other’s shields and only a few remain then just evolve and keep the mayhem coming!  There is also plenty of dragon support spread across 3 civilizations.  This card is a definite must-have for aggressive nature duelists.

The Good:  You have the potential to summon a godly 21,000 power Triple Breaker on turn 5.  This is perfect for aggressive players!

The Bad:  Rush decks might weaken this guy and make it swing for only 2 shields (which is still okay).  Fortunately, as long as your opponent has more than 2 shields this creature will retain its Double Breaker status and have power above 6,000.

The Ugly:  Mykee’s Pliers will give Dakma Balgarow and Cryptic Totem, speed attacker, which will not only leave your opponent in tears but will also cause massive head trauma and force them to wear a colostomy bag (that is if duels actually finished the way they do in the cartoon). :P

Constructed Rating: 4.5/5 – This creature hits hard and fast!  Some people will be disappointed when it loses it’s “Triple Breaker” but once those first 3 shields are gone there are only 2 more to go anyway.

Limited Rating: 3/5 – It has potential in this format because Mykee’s Pliers are in the same set.  However, it might not come out as fast as we would like it to.

Heya all, ~Zephyr~ here again. To round off this week's COTD, we look at another of the more interesting Super Rares in the set, from the Nature Civilisation, Terradragon Dakma Balgarow!

Let's break it down shall we.....
Cost, Power & Effect: 7 mana for an initial 1000 power is pretty woeful in my view as you certainly don't get worth of 7 mana, but thats where this Earth Dragon's effect comes into play. For every shield you AND your opponent have in the respective shield zones, Terradragon Dakma Balgarow receives 2000+ power. Whats more, it receives the ability to double break when it hits 6000+ power and if you are fortunate enough to have enough shields on the field by late game, 15000+ power nets you a quite tasty triple breaker to terrorise your opponent's creatures & monsters. The nice thing about this creature is that once its summoned, the effect kicks in straight away so its a nasty creature straight away to begin with. While it can reach a max of 21000 power (thats with both duelists having all 5 of their shields), the main objective of winning a duel is to break your opponent's shields, so this creature will start to lose power the more you attack your opponent's shields. Likewise, using cards like Mana Nexus and Sundrop Armor can replenish the shields and boost his power etc. So it can work both ways. So this creature's true ability on the field relies on how you control the duel and the way you attack your opponent's shields and defending your own; that way you can fully utilise this creature's effect.
This creature, of course, gets summoning sickness so it can't wreck havoc on your opponent straight away, which might give your opponent the time to dispose of it. But if they can't, then let the games begin!
Race: Earth Dragon - Similar to the Necrodragon's, there are not that many good choices, the cheapest being 4 mana, Terradragon Gamiratar, but due to its effect, its probably a better choice to go with Terradragon Regarion at 5 mana for evo bait for the Dragon's Abzo Dolba, Bajula, & Bailas Gale. Has some other choices, but nothing great otherwise.
Availability: Younger duelists will love this card due to its effect and just being a massive powerhouse when summoned in a duel so might not be the easiest to get off duelists. Also, since its a Super Rare, like all the cards being reviewed this week, will be hard to get from the boosters!
To me, this is a nice beatdown creature that could be nice to use in a Dragon deck, or just a fun Shield Manipulation deck, using Nature & Light, but can't see this being used in a proper tournament deck.
Limited: 5/5 - If you manage to get this guy out in a duel, your opponent will be in trouble. 7 mana might be a bit costly, but its worthwhile and the oppurtunity and snagging a triple breaker with its ability in most cases will give you a massive advantage.
Constructed: 3/5 - As said before, nothing more than a powerhouse creature & not something you will see in a proper tournament deck. Young kids will love to use this in their decks though!
~Zephyr~'s Score: 3/5

If anyone wants to discuss anything that I have mentioned in this COTD, feel free to email me @ - mexflash@hotmail.com. Generally always up for a friendly chat & discussion. Also available on Msn & for duels on DMC v2.0!

Until the next COTD!

See No Evil Opens Today :)

I honestly don't know what to say about this card from Shockwaves Of The Shattered Rainbow. This Card, with all five shields for both players( which will never EVER happen) is 21,000. At turn 7 it will probably be about 8,000-10,000 maybe and it will decrease. This card is Evo bait for the many Dragon evolutions in the game. I really cant see this card out of a Nature or Dragon deck, but I have been wrong before.

Pros:
Evo bait

Cons:
HORRIBLE power to mana ratio, 7 for 1000 Not the best shield to effect ratio No flavor text, what I like the flavor text

Art 3/5

Overall Rating:2/5

See ya guys, or girls, next time.

Wow two cards in a row i am not to crazy about. I simply don't like cards that depend on the state of you opponent's board to dictate it's power and shield breaking ability, But then again this is a nature civi card that with all the mana accel that nature has this dragon could be pounced on your field in the early turns of the game and leave your opponent with 9,000 double breaker to deal with asoon as turn 5. Also this big guy is a dragon who have a pretty good amount of support right now so if you like it play it in my opinion.

Continuing my CotD career with another dragon, Terradragon Dakma Balgarow!

Cost: 7 mana for 1000+... Not very reliable for that amount of mana paid. He
don't look to good from start...

Race & Civ: Nature has mana boost, so you will not have any problem to
summon him. And plus, he is a dragon which means his has tons and tons of
support for being a dragon. He has evo:s, but this a dragon that you don't
want to evolve. Magmadragons Melgars etc. are better for that kind of duty.

Effect: At this point, he looks pretty okay. But from here, its all
downhill. There must be at least 3 shield left in play when he arrives to
make him double breaker. That should always be make able, but to get him
tripple breakin', there must be at least 7 shield left in play. THAT is hard
to make sure it is. Both nature and light has shield recovery, but as
keeping 7 shields in play is veeery hard to contain, Balgarow is nono to me.
If your point with the creature is tripple breaker, Nocturnal Giant is a
better choice peer to me at least. And if it's dragons you want, there are
waaay better choices. Check DM-8.

Constructed: 1.5/5
Limited: 3/5, as limited is often more defensive and not a fast paced, he is
better in this format. Still, there are better cards.
