Welcome back to Pojo’s Card of the Day! I don’t know
if you caught it yesterday or not but there was a
ton of new information released regarding the prize
support for the upcoming KMCs as well as a preview
card for Clash of the Duel Masters! Make sure you
stop by Kaijudo.com to check those out when you get
the chance! As for today, we continue our review of
cards you will be seeing at your local (or maybe not
so local) KMCs. Today we’re taking a look at Star
Lantern.
Name:
Star Lantern
Civilization: Light
Type:
Creature
Race: Star Sentinel
Level: 3
Power: 3000
Flavor Text:
Only masters can activate the temple’s hidden
defenses.
Rarity:
Uncommon
Set Number:
9/55 l 2DED
Abilities:
Blocker
(You may tap this creature to change an enemy
creature’s attack to this creature.)
Skirmisher
(This creature can attack only creatures.)
Photon Sting – Whenever this creature blocks,
tap target enemy creature.
Star Lantern is basically the closest equivalent
that Light has to Scaradorable of Gloom Hollow. This
is a Level 3 creature with Blocker and it can
attack…only creatures. Where this card shines is
when you decide to block with it. You’ll
automatically be able to choose a target in your
opponent’s battle zone and tap it. So essentially
this card taps two creatures when it blocks, simply
put.
This is a great card against Rush decks and can give
you more options when you want to get some of your
opponent’s creatures out of the way since they will
be attackable next turn. Generally from what I’ve
noticed though, most people won’t attack if this guy
is in the battle zone, well, unless they only have
one creature or they don’t mind their other creature
getting banished. So it can take away from Lantern’s
ability.
Overall it’s a great card to use and it can stall
your opponent out when you need a little extra time
to get to that card that can turn the game around.
It also gets around Barrage which is nice but it
still falls to Heat Seekers and the newly,
occasionally teched in card, Dragon’s Breath.
Regardless, expect to see this card at your local
tournament scene and the upcoming KMCs.
Ratings:
Constructed: 4.00/5.00
(Not too difficult to deal with, however, it can be
pesky at times and will slow down gameplay. It’s
great to use against Rush but they have access to
plenty of removal if needed.)
Limited: 4.25/5.00
(In Dojo there are a bunch of other blockers but
this is one of the most unique. There are a lot less
options to get rid of this card but those options
still include Comet Missile.)
Stop by again tomorrow when we wrap up our KMC
preparation week one. Until next time my fellow
Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
