Welcome back to another edition
of Pojo.com's Card of the Day! Today we're taking a
closer look at a blocker that, at times, may seem
like it never wants to stay banished! Let's get
started with Man o' Warden:
Name: Man o' Warden
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Cyber Virus
Level: 4
Power: 4000
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number: 19/55 l 6DSI
Abilities:
Blocker
(You may tap this creature to change an enemy
creature's attack to this creature.)
Guard (This creature can't attack.)
Clone Swarm- When this creature is banished, you
may put a creature named Man o' Warden from your
hand into the battle zone.
Man o' Warden (Warden for the
rest of the review), is a Level 4 Cyber Virus with
4000 power. It is extremely limited in terms of how
it can be beneficial to you for a few reasons: It's
a Cyber Virus. There are currently no evolutions or
forms of support for Cyber Viruses at this point in
the game. It's a Blocker with 4000 power. We have
Frogzooka who is also a Blocker with 5000 power!
Warden also has Guard, so don't expect it to be
pulling shenanigans like Squeaky from Gloom Hollow.
What really sets this card
aside from other Blockers, is its ability to
replicate. If it dies in any way, you can place
another copy safely in the battle zone ready to
block another attack! Yes, it will even get around
Infernus's Decree!
Probably the biggest downfall
of this card is that it doesn't allow you to play it
from the deck like "Reborn Tengu" for you Yugi
players out there. If it did, I feel it would have
more viability than it currently does. Being only
allowed to run three copies of any one card can be
restricting as it is but there's a good chance that
one of these cards is either in your shield zone or
in your deck. The only viable way to really get this
card to work is to use it in a Darkness and Water
deck. By using cards like Dark Return, Grave
Scrounger, or Megaria the Collector, you can
continually recycle this blocker... but why would
you want to put that much effort in when you can
just run another alternative blocker?
Ratings:
Constructed: 1.75/5.00
(Unless you can find a better and more efficient way
to continuously return this card to your hand, I
don't expect this card to be winning any tournaments
or any awards in the near future.)
Limited: 3.00/5.00
(Blockers are a little bit limited in this format
and being able to run unlimited copies of a card in
your deck makes this card worth considering and
makes it a more active card.)
Make sure to stop out tomorrow
when we review one of my favorite creatures that
gets an effect upon banishment! Until next time my
fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
