I'm planning on making an
update/announcement video later today with some
information that a lot of you guys will want to know
about those KMC's, make sure to check it out this
afternoon/evening! We end our week of cards that get
an effect when banished with one from the Nature
Civilization, Manapod Beetle:
Name: Manapod Beetle
Civilization: Nature
Type: Creature
Race: Megabug
Level: 2
Power: 1000
Flavor Text: In case of emergency, break
beetle.
Rarity: Common
Set Number: 51/55 l 6DSI
Abilities:
Mana Infused – If this creature would be
banished, put it into your mana zone instead.
Manapod Beetle is very similar
to all of the other cards we reviewed this week. You
really want this card to be banished at some point,
otherwise, why would you really be playing this
card, am I right? It's stats again are the same as
yesterday's card with 1000 power on a Level 2
creature, however, this creature just so happens to
be a Megabug, so you can always evolve it into the
Swarmleader if you really wanted to.
I like to see Manapod as a more
stable version of Sprout. The neat thing about this
sprout is that it can attack! We all know that
Bronze-Arm Sabertooth is an amazing card, and half
of that is because he goes to your mana zone when
banished as well (albeit he sends two cards
instead). If you can be aggressive toward your
opponent, they may even be forced to deal with this
card by attacking or even using a removal spell on
it if necessary. Hey, what do you care? You just got
a free card to your mana zone!
Flood the battle zone early
with this bugger and expect to get your mana
accelerated! If you don't want to wait around then
you can combo this card (again? I know!) with Ripper
Reaper. Sacrifice your Manapod Beetle, get some free
mana and kill off an opponent's creature!
Overall, you may see this card
sprout up from time to time in nature decks or rush
variants. I wouldn't worry too much about it now but
it definitely has some potential if they continue to
make effects that activate upon being banished... it
could be a deck in itself!
Ratings:
Constructed: 2.75/5.00
(Functions like Sprout except that you don't lose
the top card of your deck... and it's a creature
that can attack early game.)
Limited: 3.00/5.00 (Mana
acceleration and aggression all in one. It can be an
effective way to get those Dragons out early!)
Make sure to stop by my channel
