Hello Kaijudo duelists! It’s Tyrone again and today
is a very special day. Seeing that 2013 is going to
be coming to a close in the coming weeks, now is the
perfect to reflect on a great year in Kaijudo and
see what has come of some of the best cards released
this year. So today is the start of a new countdown
for the top ten cards of 2013! Today at number 10,
we have the one and only, Blinder Beetle Prime.
Name: Blinder Beetle
Prime
Civilization: Light
Type: Creature
Level: 5
Power: 6000
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Rare
Set Number: 2/80 Ι 9SHA
Abilities:
Evolution – Put on one of your Enforcers
Double Breaker (This creature breaks two shields)
Pulsewave – When this
creature enters the battle zone and whenever it
attacks, tap target enemy creature. (If this
creature attacks, first choose what it’s attacking.
Then tap target creature.)
Double tap apparently equals double break. Is that
awesome, or is that awesome? Yes Blinder Beetle
Prime is the real deal and that was the case since
it was released. Enforcer based decks, aggressive
strategies like Naya Blitz and light/fire rush
gained a huge boost with the raw power that this
card has. In a more aggressive deck, you’re more
likely to play early game attackers to get some
early shields out of the way, then BAM, turn five
comes around and you drop Prime on board, tap a
blocker, attack and tap another blocker while
getting those next 2 shields. A card like this can
having you going in for game as soon as turn five
simply because tapping 2 creature in one turn while
double breaking is really hard to deal with for a
lot of decks in the current meta. You also have to
take its level into account. At level five it is
unable to be banished with cards like Bone Blades,
which is super relevant seeing that so many decks
use that card.
This would be an opportune time for me to go over
any gripes that I may have with this card, but in
all honesty, there isn’t much wrong with it to begin
with. It’s a really balanced card since it’s an
evolution, so you can’t play it without any bate. At
6000 power it isn’t super difficult to deal with
because there are lots of level five and six plays
that deal with Blinder Beetle Prime or at least slow
it down if the opportunity is there. The only real
downside is waiting until turn five to be able to
play it, especially if the deck is really
aggressive. But even then, turn five is still early
enough in an aggressive decks progression to make a
game changing play and with Blinder Beetle Prime,
you’ll probably win. Other possible downsides would
be late game presence, since this card doesn’t have
much of one, but ideally you wouldn’t want the game
to last long anyway.
So like this review, Prime likes to make your
opponents efforts short lived as it just swoops in
and takes the board by storm. I really do like this
card a lot because the net value of what it can do
to a game state and possibly swinging all the
momentum to your side is too good to pass up. If you
haven’t made a deck with this card yet, please give
it a try!
Constructed: 4.50/5.00
(Really aggressive card that can truly alter the
game in your favor. It may be a bit late for some
decks at level five, but shouldn’t be too late for
most.)
Limited: 3.75/5.00 ( This
card can be incredible in limited given that you
have adequate enforcer bate to evolve it on. If not,
it can be dead in your hand.)
Hope you guys enjoyed the review. Be sure to come
back tomorrow for another amazing card. Until next
time, play hard and have fun!
