Today marks our 30th
Card of the Day of 2013 and my hands haven’t cramped
up yet! I look forward to continuing my service to
all the fans of Kaijudo out there especially with
the potential that this game has for all of us in
the future! Please feel free to check out my YouTube
page for further content including matches and my
own spin on narration. More importantly though, make
sure to check back here at Pojo.com for all of your
trading card game strategies, discussions, and
reviews! Alright, enough ranting, onto today’s card
that could make a huge impact in this game:
Necrodragon of Vile Ichor; let’s get started!
Name: Necrodragon of Vile Ichor
Civilization: Darkness
Type:
Creature
Race: Terror Dragon
Level: 9
Power: 7000
Flavor Text:
“Obliterate everything!” -Alakshmi
Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
1/2 l 5DRA
Abilities:
Double
Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Slayer
(When this creature loses a battle, banish the other
creature.)
Acidic Breath-
When this creature enters the battle zone, choose
one of your opponent’s shields for each Dragon you
have in the battle zone. This creature breaks those
shields.
Alright, so Darkness finally
gets its first taste of dragon blood and I have some
mixed feelings about it overall. It’s expected that
a Level 9 creature has a minimum of Double Breaker
and I’m not too thrilled with this card’s power
level of 7000. It can take down the smaller
evolution creatures in the game currently but still
evenly trades with cards like Bolt-Tail Dragon and
Bronze-Arm Sabertooth making its next ability a
little lackluster.
We haven’t seen a whole lot of
creatures with Slayer in our current meta. It’s not
that they’re bad cards per se; however, people want
cards that are faster and aren’t costing them their
field presence to activate their abilities. I think
Slayer is going to be more important in the future
when dealing with all of these huge dragons that
will be out rampaging and burninating the
countryside. What would be more effective is if this
card was also a Blocker; then it could make your
opponent think twice before attacking since whatever
it battles with is going down with him.
The main selling point of this
card is its ETB (Enter the battle zone) ability:
Acidic Breath. By itself, Necrodragon is a slightly
pumped up Dark Scaradorable… 1000 more power,
Slayer, and three more mana to cast it. Not thrilled
yet? Me either… but wait, if you just so happen to
be running a deck that focuses on getting dragons
out into the battle zone, you can realistically
break 2-3 shields when he’s summoned! That’s not to
say that he can’t break more though!
So overall, Necrodragon of Vile
Ichor is decent but really shines in a deck that
focuses on all of the new combos that dragons get in
Dragonstrike Infernus. It’s likely that decks
devoting themselves to Necrodragon will avoid
attacking any shields whatsoever so they can swing
in and win in one turn assuming there was a lack of
shield blasts. I think this guy will see some play
but will probably get outclassed by Infernus
himself.
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.25/5.00 (It’s hard to realistically rate this guy
just yet, he has such a huge potential. This guy
could easily find himself into every dragon deck out
there if Dragonstrike Infernus can increase the
number of combos for bringing dragons out early like
Herald of Infernus or Kurragar of the Hordes. Time
will only tell!)
Limited: 3.25/5.00 (Big dragon that can kill anything it battles
with and will at least break one shield when you
play him, not bad! A little too slow though without
the right support.)
Stop by tomorrow when we take
another look into the Dragon Master Collection Kit
which is hitting store shelves a week from today:
