Welcome back everyone and Happy
President's Day to all! It feels like four score and
seven years ago since we did our last review but we
have quite the powerhouse for you today! Today's
card is Kurragar of the Hordes; let's get started!
Name: Kurragar of the Hordes
Civilization: Nature
Type:
Creature
Race: Earthstrike Dragon
Level: 9
Power: 12000
Flavor Text:
Kurragar's roar echoes across the entire Kaiju
realm.
Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
S5/S5 I 6DSI
Abilities:
Triple
Breaker (This creature breaks 3 shields.)
Ancient Call
- Whenever a card is put into your mana zone, reveal
the top card of your deck. If it's a non-evolution
creature, put it into the battle zone. Otherwise,
put it on the bottom of your deck.
The Dragons in this set just
keep getting nuttier and nuttier in terms of power
and effects! Kurragar has a MASSIVE 12000 Power and
can pretty much take down about 95% of all cards in
our current card pool with ease! Let's add to the
fact that if you don't have a way to deal with this
guy or temporarily deal with him by means of a
blocker, you're going to lose three shields!
What makes this guy even better
is the fact that every time a mana gets charged to
your mana zone, you can check the top card of your
deck for a non-evolution creature and play it! This
is even better than Hammer Dragon Foulbyrn; he
required a non-evolution Dragon to be revealed off
of the top of the deck with his effect! I sense a
little bit of synergy emerging for my "Dragon Spell"
deck!
So this card makes other mana
charge cards a great deal better than ever before!
Not only do you want to run mana ramp in a Nature
Civilization deck since it can get this guy out even
faster, but later in the game you can play something
as simple as a Sprout or Reap and Sow and possibly
summon a creature straight from the top of your
deck! Imagine if it's another one of these Dragons
that has an ETB ability!
This card and Foulbyrn can both
be comboed with a cheap Water Civilization spell
called Predict. For one mana, you can look at the
top four cards of your deck and put them back in any
order. This can set up so many combos in this build!
Not to mention that Predict's art is very
reminiscent of Joss Whedon's movie, "Cabin in the
Woods"!
Expect at least one of this
card to be in just about all decks that run the
Nature Civilization. There's not too many cards that
you can turn practically any card you draw into a
massive creature by charging it rather than playing
it and the option to be able to choose provides
immense power and versatility.
Ratings:
Constructed: 4.25/5.00 (Kurragar is going to be one brutal card to
stare down! His only downside is that he costs nine
mana to play but I assure you he will often be on
the field by turn six or seven!)
Limited: 4.00/5.00 (As long as you can get enough mana to your mana
zone to play him, you will likely win as long as you
have other decent sized creatures in your deck.)
Alright everyone, I hope you
enjoyed today's Card of the Day! Hopefully I will be
back up and on my feet for tomorrow's review as I
may be temporarily out of commission due to surgical
matters. I still plan on doing what I can for the
fans of this game, so feel free to check out my
channel for new and upcoming content and until next
time, keep cool and Kaijudo!
