Well, it’s finally Friday so for most of you guys
that means no work or school! So sit back and relax
as we go over our last Card of the Day for the week;
today’s card is Aqua Commando.
Aqua Commando is a Level 3 Aquan (I believe they
used to be called Aqua People back in Duel Master
days). He has 1,000 Power and the ability called,
“Liquid Body,” which states: “If this creature would
be banished, return it to your hand instead.” Pretty
basic effect but it can be beneficial if you’re
someone who likes to keep advantage against your
opponent.
This card rarely ever
really
dies… well, unless you play against a Nature
Civilization deck. If he gets hit with a Bone
Blades, Terror Pit, Tornado Flame, or Barrage, he
simply returns safely back to your hand, essentially
making your opponent waste a card to temporarily
dispose of him. The same goes for attacks too. If
you attack your opponents shields, you don’t need to
worry about losing field presence or advantage and
if he does return to your hand, he’s ready to be
cast next turn or be put into your mana zone.
Ideally, one of the better situations to utilize
Aqua Commando in, is having him banish another
equally powered creature. This gives your opponent
one less card on the field/in their hand while you
maintain your current count. Honestly though,
without a boost from something like Essence Elf,
Commando won’t be taking down a lot of creatures,
he’s just too weak to do so. Another option you can
do with the Commando, is attack with him and you
could try to get your opponent to block him instead
of one of your other creatures. If your opponent
chooses not to block him, then you still got a free
attack in, so it’s a win-win.
I really like the ability to return a card that
would be banished back to the hand, but there’s
other cards that have more functionality than our
beloved Commando (i.e. Hovercraft Glu-urrgle). Three
mana is workable in every deck but a little more
power would have been appreciated. Also, until we
get an Aquan Evolution card, I don’t think this card
will see a lot of play competitively.

Constructed:
2.25/5.00
(The ability to return to your hand in almost
any situation where he would normally be banished is
really good, but attach that to a 1,000 Power
creature that can’t evolve and it’s a little
underwhelming.)
Limited: 2.75/5.00
(I suppose if you’re running a spell-heavy deck
and you want creatures that normally won’t die, it’s
a decent pick… kind of like Gadgets in Yu-Gi-Oh!)
Stay tuned next week when we review my picks for
some of my favorite “Tech” cards! If you’re not
using them now, I bet you will be using at least one
or two by the end of next week! Until then, have a
great weekend my fellow Duel Masters!

Aqua Commando
Even when knowledge and telepathy reign supreme, there is still a need for soldiers on the front lines. Even better when that soldier is made entirely of water and return to the battle indefinitely!
Let's take a look before it evaporates:
Aqua Commando
Cost: 3
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Aquan
Card Abilities:
Liquid Body - If this creature would be banished, return it to your hand instead.
Aqua Commando really isn't a bad card, and if there was a limited format in this game he would be first pick worthy.
Though low in power and cheap to place on the board, Aqua Commando just keeps finding out that there aren't really any decks he can call home. Perhaps in the future this card may see some play if we get some Aquan evolutions, then he could begin bouncing indefinitely until he turned into a new body of water.
Useful only in the most aggressive of decks that won't be very consistent, Aqua Commando will be one of those cards that sits around and prays that WotC makes some form of limited play.

Hello again! AHShadow here with another Kaijudo
COTD! The card that we will be reviewing today is
named Aqua Commando!
Aqua Commando is a level 3 creature of the water
civilisation and is from the Aquan race! He has an
attack power of 1000 and possesses one ability:
Liquid Body —
If this creature would
be banished,
return it to your hand instead.
Advantages:
Aqua Commando is definitely an interesting card,
since whenever he is banished from the field, you
are able to put him back to your hand and play him
again! This means that, similarly to Hydro Spy, Aqua
Commando is able to replace himself whenever the
opponent banishes this card. This means that playing
a destruction spell such as Bones Blade will be
counterproductive for the opponent, since Aqua
Commando will just be going back to your hand! If
Aqua Commando always goes back to your hand, this
means that you will always have a monster to play!
Disadvantages:
Even though you will always be able to have a
monster in hand to play or a monster on the field,
Aqua Commando doesn’t have a big enough body to
actually do anything, except breaking shields. This
is another characteristic that is comparable to
Hydro Spy, since both of these cards cannot put any
field presence, or barely. Basically, Aqua Commando
provides card advantage, but really nothing else!
Summary:
Aqua Commando could’ve been way more playable if he
would have been a Cyber Lord, since he would act as
an infinite bait for Emperor Neuron, but being an
Aquan doesn’t really do any favors! Good concept,
but I don’t think he will be getting lots of play in
the next few months!

Aqua Commando
Civilization - Water
Level - 3
Power - 1000
Liquid Body - When this creature is destroyed return
it to your hand.
This card has a problem, the power to cost ratio is
just too low. In effect what this card really says
is "When this creature is destroyed draw a card",
it's just that the card you draw is always him, so
all you are getting will be another subpar 1000 for
3 creature, and until he does die he basically has
no effect. Furthermore water really just isn't the
color that wants this effect, it has so many ways to
replenish it's hand as is why does it need a
creature like this?
All in all, give it a pass.

Hey there, Kaijudo
Duelists! Gorby here with another Kaijudo Card of
the Day review for you! Today’s card is Aqua
Commando. As usual, we’ll being breaking this card
down by examining its stats.
Name:
Aqua Commando
Civilization:
Water
Race:
Aquan
Cost: 3
Power:
1000
Ability:
Liquid Body
So at a glance this
card doesn’t seem like anything special. 3 mana for
a 1000 power body really isn’t that impressive. Most
of the commonly played 3 mana creatures are at least
2000 power (Aqua Seneschal, Razorhide, Gigastand,
and Scaradorable of Gloom Hollow come to mind), so
it’s definitely lacking in that department. So, in
order to find something redeeming with this card,
let’s take a look at its ability. Aqua Commando’s
“Liquid Body” ability lets it return to your hand
when it would be banished. On paper, this is a
really cool effect: it essentially makes Aqua
Commando a permanent floater. On paper, this is a
really cool idea, but in practice, there are very
few times when this kind of effect would be useful.
This is mostly due
to Aqua Commando’s small power: 1000 power doesn’t
trade with many cards in the current meta. Off the
top of my head, Rusalka, Aqua Chaser, Essence Elf,
Blinder Beetle, Magris the Magnetizer, Cyber Trader
and Blaze Belcher are probably the only commonly
played cards you’re going to be battling with using
this card, and even then using something like
Gigastand, Aqua Seneschal, or Razorhide to banish
those creatures would prove more effective because
not only does your creature stay on the field
(saving you from having to resummons it in order for
it to be effective), your creature’s effect kicks in
when it attacks, putting you in a much better
position than if you had simply used this card to
trade in battle. Aqua Commando’s race doesn’t help
its case very much, either: Aquans generally aren’t
well supported right now (no Evolutions in
particular hurts).
This card does have
the benefit of combo-ing well with Skycrusher’s
Elite, creating a constant fast attacker that is
unkillable except with Nature removal, but decks
focusing around that card aren’t very practical in a
meta dominated by Evolutions.
IN REVIEW
Rating
(constructed): 1/5 – Aqua Commando just doesn’t
have what it takes right now to be competitive. It’s
one useful combo with Skycrusher’s Elite somewhat
gimmicky, and not very practical for tournament use.
Perhaps down the line Aquans will receive more
support, but as it stands, this card is just so far
outclassed by 3 mana, 2000 attack creatures that
have valuable effects (especially Aqua Seneschal, a
fellow water creature).
