Welcome back everyone! I hope you
all enjoyed your weekend; I myself attended my first
Pokémon tournament, which happened to be a City
Championship. I had a lot of fun and evened things
out in the end... but onto the game that we’re
actually talking about, Kaijudo!
Today’s Card of the Day is a
popular pick by many in my area during the initial
release of the game; Essence Elf. Easy E, as I will
be calling “her,” is a Level 2 Tree Kin creature
with 1,000 Power. It’s effect is as follows:
Nature’s Gift- Each of your other creatures gets
+1,000 power.
Overall a very straightforward
card. Low cost and can make your other creatures
bigger, not to mention that you can always use it to
attack on turn two as well. This card can allow you
to excel in the mirror match (if there is indeed
one). Throw it in with the Water Civilization and
your Neuron can swing freely without having to worry
about their Neuron or Tornado Flame! Combo this with
the Light Civilization to make your blockers even
more fortified, why stop there?! You can make
Gilaflame able to take down that pesky Fishborg
Blaster; make your nature creatures bigger so they
can benefit from The Great Arena, allowing you to
draw a card more often; protect your other creatures
from being banished from Barrage... although Easy E
will still leave the field, those other staples you
have on the field will stay, so Aqua Senschals and
Razorhides everywhere can rejoice!
I think this card could be better
though if it was able to boost it’s own power or if
it started out with a little more power itself. I
imagine Wizards thought it through and it would have
been a little overpowered if that was the case.
Lastly, this card would be insane if it was a Beast
Kin instead of a Tree Kin! There’s not a lot of Tree
Kin support at the current moment, so no theme decks
for all of you Yu-Gi-Oh! players out there that love
them some “Trent”!
It’s biggest weakness, however, is
that it is really weak on it’s own and pretty much
dies to anything... well, except our friend Tekamora,
The Wretched from our review on Friday. I don’t
really think attacking is what this card was meant
for but similar to an “Enchantment” in MTG. If you
do have the option to attack to win, don’t let that
hold you back!
Regardless, a very splashable card
that can be very annoying to deal with if you let
them stay in the battle zone long enough or if you
can get multiples out! Expect this to see some play
but it’s not for every deck out there. If you’re
running some nature cards, give it a try, you just
might like it!
Ratings
Constructed: 3.50/5.00 (Easily
playable in just about any deck and can boost your
creatures so they can avoid banishment from other,
formally equal creatures.)
Limited: 4.25/5.00 (Extra power
from out of nowhere can be very crucial in a limited
game)

Like many of nature's creatures Tree Kin strive for growth and community, and this beautiful
bundle of thorns is no exception. When it comes to being a team player, Essence Elf is one of the
best!
Let's take an in depth look before we learn first hand the law of the jungle!
Essence Elf
Cost: 2
Civilization: Nature
Type: Creature
Race: Tree Kin
Card Abilities:
Nature's Gift - Each of your other creatures gets +1000 power.
Essence Elf was one of the first cards to be released, way back to when the battle decks were
all we had. Back then if you were playing the Nature Civilization, this was the go-to card.
Nowadays the card is still powerful but it's lost a lot of it's brilliant shine from its glory days.
Essence Elf comes out early and is a fairly weak creature, so what is it that makes this card
noticeable? When this card is on the board, it gives you:
Nature's Gift - Each of your other creatures gets +1000 power.
This ability is incredibly powerful, making every single one of your other creatures in play
1000 power stronger. Your cards will win what would have been a trade, or you'll keep your
average turn three drop creature from being destroyed by Barrage!
Sadly this ability hasn't been enough to warrant play in most decks, but the decks that rely on
early game or falter to multi-removal may find that Essence Elf was what they needed. If you're
ever playing the Nature civilization and you want to concentrate on the early game, make sure
you look at Essence Elf!

Hello again! AHShadow here with another Kaijudo
COTD! Today’s card is the first non evo-fury card
that we will be reviewing and it’s the one and only:
Essence Elf!
Essence Elf is a level 2 creature of the nature
civilisation and is from the Tree Kin race! He/She/It???
has 1000 power and possesses one ability:
Nature’s Gift —
Each of your other creatures
gets +1000 power.
Advantages:
The biggest advantage that you get when playing
Essence Elf is his ability, Nature’s Gift. This
ability makes every monster in your battle zone,
other than Essence Elf, 1000 power stronger! Now, I
know this may not look like a lot, but trust me when
I say than 1000 power can make or break a duel!
Essence Elf can turn your Aqua Seneschal 1000 power
bigger, which means that it will be able to run over
other Aqua Seneschals, Razorhides, Gigastands, Cyber
Sprites and can trade bodies with an opponent’s
Reef-Eye! This causes the opponent to switch gears
and play on the defensive side, while you will be
able to get some draws off Seneschal, while breaking
your opponent’s shields at the same time! Not only
that, but giving your other 2000 power creatures a
1000 power boost can let you evade your opponent’s
barrage, which is really amazing, since barrage
hurts most level three or less creatures! This also
means that your Hydra Medusa, Emperor Neuron or even
Hyperspeed Dragon will not be hit by an opponent’s
Tornado Flame; making it either dead in their hands
or making them waste it on your Essence Elf, while
you continue to dominate the field with your own big
monsters! Now, using Essence Elf isn’t only for
aggressive players! You can also boost up your Cyber
Sprites, Reef-Eyes, Chasm Entanglers, Sun-Stalk
Seeds, Frogzookas, Mother Viruses, Squeekys, etc. to
help you protect your own shields. Your 2000 power
blockers will now be able to completely block the
opponent’s Aqua Seneschals, Razorhides and
Gigastands, while your 3000 blockers will now be
able to evade the opponents Heat Seekers! There is
many more situations where Essence Elf can give you
the boost needed to gain or maintain advantage, but
there was one more that I thought was very important
to know. Usually, at the end of the duel, it often
comes to who has the biggest creature on the board,
and this is where Essence Elf can give you the edge!
With his 1000 power boost, you can boost your own
Tatsurion, the Unchained to banish the opponent’s
Dark Scaradorable, or you can summon your own
Bolt-Tail Dragon to banish theirs! With Essence Elf
on your side of the field, you would still get to
keep your big creature, while your opponent will be
desperately looking for an answer!
Disadvantages:
The biggest disadvantage with Essence Elf, is that
he can never give you advantage by itself. This
means that without another creature on the board,
there is no way, except if he manages to banish
another creature in the battle zone, that he would
be able to give you an edge in the duel. When I mean
cards that could give you an advantage, I mean cards
like Aqua Seneschal, Gigastand, Hydro Spy, Hydra
Medusa, Emperor Neuron, Logos Scan, Fumes, or any
other card that can give you a “+1” over the
opponent. Now I know this may not seem like a big
problem, but it is something that you should be
aware of! This means that alone, Essence Elf will
not be able to give you a favourable position in the
duel, and that you will have to rely on your other
cards to make him useful. This means that drawing
Essence Elf at the wrong moment will make him a dead
draw! I know I do mention dead draws a lot, but I
always try to think of these situations when I am
making my deck!
Summary:
Like I mentioned before, I do think that Essence Elf
can help you in many situations and that he is
helpful enough to warrant a deck space to him.
However, like I said in the disadvantages section,
you should be careful when using cards like these
that don’t provide immediate advantage!

Essence Elf
Civilization - Nature
Level - 2
Power - 2000
Nature's Gift - Each of your creatures in the battle
zone gets +1000 power.
Each of my creatures gets bigger? Yes, i'd like
that. Oh and it has a random body that can break
shields in the final turn? Sign me up.
And only 2 mana? Holy shit, where do i sign up.
You sign up by playing nature friends, because
essence elf is a nature staple, if your deck has
nature it almost certainly has essence elf. Now 1000
power may not seem like a lot but it actually is,
because it makes all of your early game plays one
turn bigger, which makes it easy to over run your
opponent.
Is there a downside to this card? Well um, lemme see
here? It has a great big glowing "Kill me" sign on
it to draw your opponents removal i guess, but
that's sort of an advantage in a way since it means
your opponent won't kill anything else. Though your
opponent could blow you out if you relied heavily on
that power to keep them from tearing apart your
field that was tapped out.
