Welcome back to Pojo.com's Card
of the Day! This week we're taking a look at some
potentially devastating shield blasts and today's
card is no different! Have you been struggling to
deal with those Rush decks? What about Megabugs?
Birds gotcha down? And how about those new-fangled
"Leap of Faith" decks? This card just so happens to
deal with all of them! Today's card is Tendril
Grasp.
Name: Tendril Grasp
Civilization: Nature
Type: Spell
Race: N/A
Level: 6
Power: N/A
Flavor Text: Keep off the grass.
Rarity: Rare
Set Number: 55/55 l 4EVO
Abilities:
Shield
Blast (Instead of putting this spell into your
hand from a broken shield, you may cast it for
free.)
Put all creatures that are level 3 or less from the
battle zone into their owners' mana zones.
Tendril Grasp is in the Nature
cycle of cards that cost 6 mana and cause mass
removal/disturbance. Other examples include:
Barrage, Aquatic Expulsion, Stormspark Blast, and...
Suffocate? I know, not quite a level 6 but it does
have a very similar effect!
This card has the largest
potential of targets to hit and that will deal with
creatures on its own. Stormspark requires you to
have creatures in the battle zone to be effective as
a "removal spell". This card can deal with
everything in a Rush deck outside of those pesky
Gilaflames. It deals with all of the birds with
ease, and Megabugs lose all of their evolution bait
and even some Sword Horned in the process!
One of my favorite plays with
this card is to use it to deal with my opponent's
Blockers. Most people as of right now only run three
specific blockers: Fullmetal Lemon, Scaradorable of
Gloom Hollow, and Aqua Strider. Tendril Grasp
essentially says, "Hey, those blockers are nice but
I'm gonna need to win this turn, so...".
This card does have a downside
however, it gives your opponent mana but it can also
give you some extra mana as well! This card could
ramp your opponent up to dangerous levels if they're
playing Dragons but if you got rid of their birds,
it ends up being a better trade off anyways due to
the fact they don't get their Dragon Discount Card
swiped for free points. It can also set up Rush
players to be able to drop their entire hand on you
since they'll have so much mana to work with now,
although, if they're a rush player, they likely just
used all of their resources attempting to flood the
battle zone.
Needless to say, this card has
it's pros and cons but most of the time I think
you'll find this card having more pros to work in
your favor. If you've been struggling dealing with
Rush decks, Blurple, Megabugs, etc, this might just
be the tech card that you needed for your deck!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.75/5.00
(Not the greatest when in your hand against a Rush
deck but amazing when it's hit in your shields!)
Limited: 4.00/5.00 (It can get rid of early
threats as well as Neuron in limited play but still
can't deal with bigger creatures.)
We hope to see you back for our conclusion of this
