Hello my Kaijudo Acolytes and
Adepts! I'm bringing you this Friday edition of the
Card of the Day from the Darkness Civilization! The
power has been shut down by the Enforcers down the
street and it appears that there's
someone likely working for the Choten that
stole some chemicals to try to evolve some other
creatures. This has been going on for a while now,
so I'm working with what power my personal device
has to bring you today's review until I'm allowed to
return to my rightful place on the other side of the
veil! While I still can, let's take a look at
Starseed Squadron!
Name: Starseed Squadron
Civilization: Light/Nature
Type:
Creature
Race: Enforcer/Tree Kin
Level: 4
Power: 4000
Flavor Text:
N/A
Rarity:
Very Rare
Set Number:
84/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Spellcharge-
Whenever you cast a spell, each of your creatures
gets +2000 power until the end of the turn.
Overpower-
Each of your creatures that has power 6000 or more
has "Double Breaker." (A creature that has "Double
Breaker" breaks 2 shields.)
Starseed Squadron was one of my
official preview cards that I received exclusively
from Wizards of the Coast (alongside Sword Horned).
This card is overall balanced in terms of his
level/power ratio (level 4 with 4000 power). This
card combos well with an aggressive strategy and has
seen some recent play in the form of a deck called
"Leap of Faith" and was and was pioneered by a
member of the Denver Kaijudo group.
The main idea of the deck as I saw it, was to
get creatures out consistently and early on and then
or when all of their creatures were stronger than
6000 you could go in and overwhelm the opponent by
turn 4-6.
Squadron itself isn't anything
amazing, however, when you have other smaller
creatures to back it up and you play a spell you can
have devastating results! Imagine playing Power
Surge and giving all of your creatures +2000 power
and then giving them an additional +2000 power with
Squadron's effect! That almost guarantees that every
one of your creatures will have Double Breaker
(unless of course you're sporting a Magris or a 1000
power creature).
This card has some potential
and can even get you out of some difficult
situations at times. For example, if you have a
Sword Horned in the battle zone and you play a
spell, it now becomes a 7500 creature for three
mana! That can deal with some of the biggest threats
out there (outside of those huge Dragons or Monarchs
of course!)! It can also assure you that your
creatures won't be getting banished by Rock Bite or
Tornado Flame as well! Light and Nature work great
together and this card is a prime example. This card
requires some thought and strategy if you want to
build a deck around it but the rewards are right
there waiting for you, so why not give it a shot?
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.00/5.00 (There aren't a ton of decks using this card
currently but it has a lot of potential to be an
amazing card.)
Limited:
3.50/5.00 (A creature that can deal with all of
those semi-bigger threats out there and can compete
head to head with a rush deck, seems pretty good in
limited.)
I hope you enjoyed this week of
reviews! Stop out again next week when we cover a
whole new list of cards.
