Welcome back to another week of
Pojo.com's Card of the Day! If you all haven't
checked out my channel, please do so! There is new
content up and I will be doing a giveaway this week,
so stay tuned! Alright, this week is going to be a
blast (pun intended)! We're taking a look at some of
the new shield blasts from this set. Some you may
have already been using and others you may have not
considered even trying out, maybe this will change
all of that! Today's card will go great in a very
creature heavy deck, let's take a look at Reinforce.
Name: Reinforce
Civilization: Nature
Type:
Spell
Race: N/A
Level: 5
Power: N/A
Flavor Text:
"Kimora not duel alone. Shouter is here."
-Mighty Shouter
Rarity:
Common
Set Number:
64/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Shield
Blast (Instead of putting this spell into your
hand from a broken shield, you may cast it for
free.)
Look at the top 3 cards of your deck. You may reveal
any number of creatures from among them and put
those creatures into your hand. Put the rest on the
bottom of your deck in any order.
Reinforce is essentially an
upgraded version of the old shield blast Breach the
Veil which allowed you to look at the top 5 cards of
your deck instead and choose any creature to add to
your hand. This card decreases the amount you can
look at but rewards you with the potential to add
three cards to your hand for just 5 mana.
The biggest question on most
people's minds tends to be: "Is it really worth it?
Couldn't I just tech in Logos Scan or use Reap and
Sows?" Yes and no. It all depends on the
construction of your deck. If you run a high amount
of creatures this card will often get you 2-3 cards,
whereas if you run a very shield blast heavy deck,
you'll be lucky to get 1 card to your hand.
Personally I feel that this
card is designed for Megabug players in mind. Take a
look at Mana Tick, it allows you to look at the top
4 cards of your deck and choose a Megabug from
amongst them and add it to your hand. This card goes
one card deeper and it doesn't matter what type of
creature you choose, as long as it, and the other
cards you choose, are creatures.
So ideally for 5 mana you are
drawing 3 cards from your deck which is actually a
step up from Spy Mission or Trial and Error (where
you might draw 3 cards, you still get rid of one
card). This card allows you to get to your key combo
pieces earlier in the game and at worst allows you
to set up the bottom of your deck to prepare for
later in the game in case it should come down to it.
Honestly, it's not difficult in a Megabug deck to
cycle through your deck with the effects of Mana
Tick and Hive Queen going back to back.
This card can throw your
opponent off substantially too. They may have
thought that they had you against a wall only to
have you refill their hand when you break their
shields. The only major downside to this card is
that it's a level 5 spell
and your opponent gets to know what's been
added to your hand. I would expect to see this card
teched in decks in the future, especially decks that
rely on Evolution creatures and quite possibly even
rush! Only time will tell but this card has a ton of
potential!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.25/5.00 (This card is balanced and has the potential
of giving you three free cards. This is the Nature
player's equivalent of Logos Scan, Spy Mission, or
Trial and Error.)
Limited: 3.75/5.00 (This is one of the closest things you can get to
a draw spell in this format. It can be a little slow
at a cost of 5 mana, however, it can fully recharge
your hand and allow you to get access to those combo
pieces you might need to win the game.)
Stop back again tomorrow when we take a step toward
the dark side of the force! Make sure to check out
my channel for new content and until next time my
fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
