Welcome back my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters! Yesterday ratings and rankings
officially went up but a part of me still thinks
they're trying to work out some of the bugs.
Regardless, it is a great incentive to get out there
and make your tournaments count so that you can be
recognized by the community! Today we're taking a
look at a card very similar to our old friend Gran
Gure in the form of Citadel Magistrate.
Name: Citadel Magistrate
Civilization: Light
Type:
Creature
Race: Skyforce Champion
Level: 7
Power: 10500
Flavor Text:
"If I save one soul, it is as if I save a whole
world."
Rarity:
Rare
Set Number:
3/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Blocker (You may tap this creature to change an enemy
creature's attack to this creature.)
Skirmisher
(This creature can attack only creatures.)
Today we have
a slightly upgraded version of Gran Gure.
This guy has cooler art in my opinion and is a
slightly more relevant race of Skyforce Champion...
but not still lacking the extra push that they
really need to take off. He has 1500 more power than
Gran Gure for an additional level, which is pretty
standard when looking at Blockers from the Light
civilization.
The fact that this has
Skirmisher makes it more playable in decks that tend
to tap your opponents creatures down... wait a
minute! A lot of Skyforce Champions have tap
abilities! Starlight Strategist, Azuri, and even
Urth can benefit when used with this card.
This card isn't going to break
the meta or anything but it can possibly put your
opponent at a slower pace until they can find their
answer in the form of Grip of Despair, Piercing
Judgment, Terror Pit, Root Trap, or, of course,
Comet Missile.
This can also function well
with cards like Panopter and even Fight! if you're
running three or more colors in a deck. Depending on
the speed of the meta in your area, I can see this
guy getting splashed in some decks instead of Gran
Gure, however, I just think that Saracon, Storm
Dynamo is such a better alternative.
Ratings:
Constructed: 2.75/5.00 (A turn seven blocker that's pretty huge...
too bad turn seven leaves so much removal to be
played! Also, let's not forget all of the level 9
Dragons out there that will easily deal with this
card.)
Limited: 3.25/5.00 (If you can play in a slower environment where
Drakons aren't a thing, this card may be really
good, you just need to be able to get to turn seven
and hope your opponent can't play cards like Grip or
Judgment.)
Make sure to stop by tomorrow to check out more
spoilers from Wizards of the Coast! Until next time
my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game
on!
