It’s been a while my fellow
Kaijudo Duel Masters but I’m back! In case you were
wondering, I, much like another one of our COTD
writers, just got married (on the Clash of the Duel
Masters release event day)! I just recently got back
from my honeymoon and I’m ready to get back into
this amazing game! Ironically enough, the return of
Mark Woodin (that’s me for those of you who didn’t
know) heralds today’s “Mark” card: Mark of Infernus,
let’s get started.
Name: Mark of Infernus
Civilization: Fire
Type:
Spell
Race: N/A
Level: 9
Power: N/A
Flavor Text:
“Send word to all Fire creatures. We go to war!”
–Infernus the Immolator
Rarity:
Rare
Set Number:
53/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Choose one:
•Put a creature named Infernus the Immolator from
your hand into the battle zone.
•Banish any number of target enemy creatures that
have a total power of 5000 or less.
Ok, so we have a very specific
card today that can put you a couple of turns ahead
if you’re trying to get out Infernus the Immolator.
This might be a bit more playable if it was a shield
blast or if it cost a couple of mana less to cast.
Nine mana that requires you to have another specific
card in your hand when you play it should have an
amazing effect and I’m not feeling it.
The second effect states that
you can banish any number of creatures that your
opponent controls with a total of 5000 power or
less. To give it more playability I think that they
should have increased this to 8000 power instead… it
would also give it the feel of the Immolator’s
effect. I suppose it’s nice that you can select
multiple targets but there are so many other cards
that just do this better like Tornado Flame,
Dragon’s Breath, and Barrage.
OOverall, if this card would
have been made a shield blast or allowed you to gain
both of these effects, or cost two mana less, then I
think it could see more play, however, as it stands
this card will see little to no play outside of a
very rare limited environment.
Ratings
Constructed: 1.25/5.00 (I don’t see a reason to run this card as it
currently stands. It’s nice that you can choose
which effect to activate but it’s extremely
underwhelming for 9 mana!)
Limited: 1.50/5.00 ((This card will likely only be played if you get
a hold of Immolator in your sealed event but it’s not
likely that you will be able to see the two cards
together often if at all. The removal ability is
good but having to wait until turn nine to play it
severally limits this cards usefulness.)
