It’s Wednesday and I’ve been
pretty busy with work and school but I’m not going
to wreck my track record for bringing you guys
articles. This just so happens to be my 60th
article here on Pojo (all of them in a row, talk
about perfect attendance!) I hope you all have been
enjoying my articles; after all, I do it for you
guys and girls out there! Alright, let’s get down to
business to today’s Card of the Day: Umbra.
Name: Umbra
Civilization: Darkness
Type: Creature
Race: Fire Bird
Level: 2
Power: 1000
Flavor Text: Umbra sings a song of
unspeakable shadows.
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number: 33/55 l 6DSI
Abilities:
Dragonsong – You tap 1 less mana card to
summon Dragons.
Dracothane’s Envoy- All your Dragons have
“Slayer.” (When a creature that has “Slayer” loses a
battle, banish the other creature.)
Umbra is the Fire Bird of the
Darkness Civilization and conveniently enough his
name fits right in! Fun Fact: “Umbra” literally
translates to “Shadow” in Latin!
This little darkness bird has a
very similar benefit to his light-feathered friend;
he only costs 2 mana to cast! This makes it
incredibly easy to bring him out and to get those
higher cost Dragons out earlier than ever. You need
to be careful though, as this card can be banished
by just about every card in existence including
Screeching Scaradorable.
Lux made it so that you could
protect your Dragons, Umbra makes sure that your
Dragons don’t die alone. When you combo this card
with powerhouses like Lyra, the Blazing Sun, you can
tap down an opponent’s creature and take down any
other card that happens to be tapped!
It’s nice to have one of these
guys in your battle zone but isn’t always necessary
since Dragons usually tend to be powerful enough to
take down most other creatures. I suppose this card
was really designed for the mirror match. It’s a
quick way to get your Dragons out early and add some
extra protection and will make your opponent think
twice before taking down your Dragon.
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.50/5.00
(Darkness Dragons by themselves still need some work
but combo them with other civilizations and other
birds and you can have yourself an early onslaught
of Dragons!)
Limited: 4.00/5.00 (So
your opponent got some really good pulls eh? That’s
nice; let me have my weaker Dragon dispose of that
Infernus/Andromeda/etc.!)
Hopefully this weather around
here heats up… if not, we’ll at least have quite the
scorcher for tomorrow’s review! Until next time my
fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
