We're ending our week
with our last of the Fire Birds, Belua. So let's get
right into it and take a walk on the wild side!
Name: Belua
Civilization: Nature
Type: Creature
Race: Fire Bird
Level: 4
Power: 2000
Flavor Text: Belua sings a song of the
jungle's primal might.
Rarity: Uncommon
Set Number: 45/55 l 6DSI
Abilities:
Dragonsong – You tap 1 less mana card to
summon Dragons.
Kurragar's Envoy- Each of your Dragons can't be
blocked by creatures that have less power than it.
Belua is a member of the Nature
Civilization and fits into today’s fun fact: Belua's
origin is of Latin descent and means “Wild Animal or
Bestial”! It's only fitting that Belua is in the
Nature Civilization!
Just like all the other birds,
Belua grants you one less mana tap when summoning
Dragons. This is expected and obviously a benefit
for anyone running Dragons. Belua is one of the two
Level 4 Fire Birds with 2000 power. I'm not a fan of
it being a Level 4 since it slows down your combo
plays but it does avoid Tendril Grasp. I suppose if
you're running nature, there's a good chance that
you'll be running some mana ramp in your deck as it
is, so you could see Belua on turn 3 and some
Dragons sooner than turn 5!
Belua's other ability is very
similar to that of Roaming Bloodmane in which your
Dragons can't be blocked by creatures that have less
power than it. Most of the Dragons that you're going
to see in this set are 6000 power at least and
there's only a few blockers in this set. The
strongest one is 8500 but is also an evolution
creature; it's unlikely you'll be able to block
any attacks coming from a Dragon if your
opponent has Belua in the battle zone!
Overall, there's not really
much else to say about Belua. It's a solid 2000
power for a bird with a decent effect. This card can
prove to be pretty crazy in Limited since there's
not a ton of blockers to begin with, so most of your
Dragons are essentially unblockable.
Ratings:
Constructed: 2.75/5.00
(Too high cost for a bird. If you happen to run mana
ramp as it is, you may not even need any of the
birds in your deck to get out your big dragons!)
Limited: 3.75/5.00 (In
Limited it can prove to be a pain if you're battling
against it. All of your opponents dragons will
likely be able to attack without worry of blockers.
What makes the situation even worse is there aren't
many removal spells in this set outside of Smog or
Ensnare.)
Have a great weekend everyone!
Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep
calm and game on!
