Welcome
back everyone! This week is the last week for
spoilers before the actual release of Clash of the
Duel Masters on Friday May 24th.
So, in the
spirit of those
spoilers, we have an exclusive preview week for you
guys leading up to the release of Clash all thanks
to the awesomely wonderful people at Wizards of the
Coast! Today’s card is Sunspout Quartz, let’s get
started!
Name: Sunspout
Quartz
Civilization: Light
/Water
Type:
Creature
Race: Spirit Quartz
Level: 4
Power: 3000
Flavor Text:
Infused with the spirit of a
thundering rain cloud.
Rarity:
Uncommon
Set Number:
77/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
(This card
enters your mana zone tapped.)
Opal Aura-
Each of your other Light creatures gets +1000 power.
Sapphire Shine-
Each of your other Water creatures gets +1000 power.
Sunspout Quartz is a Spirit
Quartz, a new creature type altogether, but I
suspect we’ll see other variations of Quartz’s in
the future. This Level 4 creature, which strongly
resembles a bird, has two abilities that will make
this worth considering when constructing your Dragon
Decks of tomorrow.
I’m a fan how they incorporated
the stone and its color relating to its element. In
this case, Opal Aura provides an extra boost to all
of your other Light creatures and increases their
power by 1000. But wait! There’s more! We have
Sapphire Shine which adds 1000 power to your Water
creatures on top of that! So let’s say you’re
running a Water/Dark/Light Deck and you have this
guy out and you also have something like Saracon,
Storm Dynamo out. It’s to my understanding that
Saracon will gain the boost from both effects of
Opal Aura and Sapphire Shine giving it an additional
2000 power!
This may not seem like a huge
deal, but if you are running a lot of multi-color
cards and you want something better to use than just
Essence Elf, this card could prove to be quite
useful! All of a sudden your Jade Monitors can block
and banish Herald of Infernus! Your Andromeda can
now take out Dracothane and other Andromedas with
ease! This may even make your cards less susceptible
to cards like Heat Seekers, Barrage, or Dragon’s
Breath!
It’s
obvious that this card is a great addition to the
already popular decks out there, but it can help
others with alternative strategies as well. Remember
the card we reviewed last week?
Panopter is also a
Light/Water creature and it gains an additional 2000
power from this card! Plus all of your other support
cards become just a little more playable. Finally,
this card can offer assistance to your mana curve
and consistency. You can throw this into your mana
zone and unlock both civilizations with ease! After
all, it’s not like you were really going to make a
huge turn one play, right?
This is a great card to consider
running and if it’s not dealt with it can become
quite the nuisance, especially if you can manage to
get multiple copies out, at which point they will
boost each other! Make sure to check back here for
four more days of previews that were provided to us
from the awesome people at Wizards of the Coast!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.50/5.00
(It’s still up in the air just
how good this card will be, however, it will be
splashed in decks and may give an extra push to
other Light/Water decks out there.)
Limited: 4.00/5.00
(This is a great card in limited currently as there
doesn’t seem to be a ton of removal so far. If it’s
not dealt with your battle zone can get really scary
really quick! Another benefit is that since you are
likely choosing multiple civilizations in limited,
it gives you a more consistent deck to work with.)
Make sure to stop by tomorrow to check out more
spoilers from Wizards of the Coast! Also, check out
my channel on YouTube for awesome
Kaijudi (lol)
content! Also, just as a note, I will likely be
taking a week hiatus starting this upcoming Monday
since I will be getting married this Saturday! I
tried talking the fiancé into going to a Clash of
the Duel Masters set premiere for our honeymoon, but
sadly that was shot down! Alright, well until next
time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and
game on!
