Card Name: Ripper Reaper

Mana Cost: 5

Civilization: Darkness

Race: Shadow Champion

Card Type: Creature

Power: 4000

Rarity: Rare

Card Number: 31/55

Card Set: 6DSI

Card Text: Cursed Scythe -  When this creature enters the battle zone, you may choose one of your other creatures and banish it. If you do, your opponent chooses one of his or her creatures in the battle zone. Banish that creature.

This card has a potentially good enter the battle zone effect that can turn Ripper Reaper into a pretty potent combo card.  This combo works well when paired with a darkness creature that gives you a benefit from being banished.  Grudge weaver is a two cost that when banished your opponent chooses and discards a card.  So if you choose to banish Grudge weaver.  You lose a 2 cost creature and your opponent loses a creature and a card from their hand.  Gregoria's Fortress is another card that pairs very well with Ripper Reaper's effect.  If Gregoria's Fortress is in the battle zone and you play Ripper Reaper you can banish Fortress or another creature and your opponent has to choose 2 creatures on their side to banish.  The final card I like to pair with Ripper Reaper is Shapeshifter Scaradorable.  If you are running cheap evo bait you are not losing much if you decide to banish Shapeshifter.  You will get Shapeshifter back to your hand thanks to the power loyal friend.  Shapeshifter can then be played next turn on another evo bait and be ready to attack.

I like Ripper Reaper as a one or two of in a deck to give a little variety to your strategy.  I really like the pairing of Gregoria's Fortress with Reaper Ripper.  In my meta this combo is just to slow of a combo to pull of reliably.  Hopefully Shattered Alliances will provide some cards to assist with this combo.  A Shadow Champion deck would be interesting many of the cards have strong powers.  I'm not sure there is enough support yet to make them playable.

Welcome back everyone to our second day of our shortened week at Pojo.com! Today we're going to be looking at a card that has increased in hype ever since Necrose, Nightmare Bloom was revealed. Today's card has a lot of viability in the future and is one of the easiest ways to deal with untargetable creatures like Keeper of Laws! Let's get right to it with Ripper Reaper!

Name: Ripper Reaper
Civilization:
Darkness
Type: Creature
Race:
Shadow Champion
Level:
5
Power:
4000
Flavor Text: Life's scales are balanced by its scythe.
Rarity: Rare
Set Number: 31/55 l 6DSI

Abilities:

Cursed Scythe- When this creature enters the battle zone, you may choose one of your other creatures and banish it. If you do, your opponent chooses one of his or her creatures in the battle zone. Banish that creature.

Ripper Reaper is a level 5 Shadow Champion with 4000 power. By itself it doesn't do anything except potentially serve as evolution bait for Impalicus. When you play this creature you can sacrifice another one of your creatures and banish one of your opponent's creatures... but they get to choose what's banished.

When this card was released in DragonStrike Infernus, there were some combos that people thought of regarding this card, but most of them involved too much investment in the battle zone. To top things off, even if you sacrificed something, they could simply choose the a firebird to sacrifice or something that wasn't really useful. We were able to combo cards like Grudge Weaver with Reaper to force our opponent to discard a card and sacrifice a creature... we were on the right track!

Once Clash of the Duel Masters was released we got a few more toys to play with in the form of Gregoria's Fortress. Now whenever we sacrificed a creature with Reapers ability, your opponent had to choose not one, but two creatures to sacrifice! Combine this with the aforementioned Grudge Weaver and your opponent will have to discard a card as well!

Now once Necrose, Nightmare Bloom was revealed, Ripper Reaper reached a whole new level of hype. You simply play Necrose, add whatever creature you want to your hand from your discard pile, and then play Ripper Reaper from your hand! You can potentially do this over and over again and it becomes very difficult to deal with if you also have a Queen Kalima on board!

One of my personal favorite combos with this card is to play this after you have an Orion, Radiant Fury out. Your opponent will have to sacrifice a creature and you get to search the top three cards of your deck and put all light creatures into play! This combo has more potential with the release of Light and Darkness dual civilization cards, so give it a shot!

To sum things up, Ripper Reaper is a decent card when combined with other cards. By itself it's a horrible card, but I'm sure it was designed to be this way and to give us a way around cards like King Neptas, Keeper of Laws, or even Eternal Haven. Expect to see this card a ton the first couple weeks of the KMCs, only time will tell if he'll stay there.

Constructed: 3.25/5.00 (Still a mediocre card but it can be amazing when utilized with other abilities!)
Limited: 2.50/5.00 (The only way you're likely to benefit off of this card in limited is if your opponent only has one really good creature in the battle zone, otherwise, you're likely left banishing a Lux.)

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Make sure to check out my channel for new content! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
