The Merrits of Mono: Part Two

Heres the second part of my analysis of mono decks, the part where i tell you what each civilisation has got going
for it.

Deck samples

Ok, im not gonna do out full deck lists, just an example for each civilisation. Please excuse the rubbish names..

Fire Civilisation- Red Rush
Species: Human
Ok, humans probably have the weakest level one evolution (uncommon), armored cannon balbaro. He really is pathetic,
if it wasnt for the basic evo effect of no summoning sickness, id probably not even play him. So, the
purpose of your deck here is to swarm. Just throw as many weak creatures on the field as possible and pray your opponent
doesnt have a burst shot or vampire silphy. You may well end up having to simply out number your opponents blockers,
but with so many one or two mana creatures, you shouldnt have much of a problem. Your main players are Mini Titan Gett,
Baron Vorg, Brawler Zyler, braid claw and armored blaster valdios(x4).
Problems:
-Late game, you could begin to get desperate, especially if your playin against a lot of blockers.
-Suiciderslike braid claw and Gett are great and cheap but again, if youre playing against blockers, put them in mana,
or evolve gett or theyll only end up..suiciding..

Darkness civilisation-Infestation
Species: Parasite worm
The theme here- control. Darkness really has evolved with the evo set and has definitley secured its place
as the control civilisation. This deck combines hand and field control. Early game, play your horrid worms
then later evolve them into chaos worms do eliminate first your opponents hand then anything they have left
on the field. The level two evolution for parasite worms is interesting as the creatures it evolves from
are pure tech while Ultracide worm is an 11000 beatstick.. Still, a good late game finisher. Dont forget
terror pit and lost soul!
Problems:
-Early game you may have an empty field, but this can be tackled with a few bolckers like bloody squito
and marrow ooze.
-Also, you could find your opponent having no cards in their hand, any time after the third
turn so alot of your cards are useless (no worries though, they've done your job for you..)

Light Civilisation- Yellow Bellied
Species: N/A
Yellow (or white, for you MTG players) is potentially the worst civilisation. All its power comes
from not a theme or species but from a few elite cards that really verge on being broken..
In this deck these cards are holy awe and Diamond cutter. Early on, flood the field with bolckers,
as well as a few weak offensive monsters. Now the trick is to play either diamond cutter
or holy awe (or both) to crush your unwary opponent in one fowl swoop with your army of blockers or elite
few attackers.
Problems:
Well, obviously scarley skyterror and critical blade. Thankfuly both cards are rarely played.

Nature Civilisation - Overgrowth
Species: Beast Folk
Ok, everybody knows green=mana. But the potential for this is rarely explored. What youll need- Beast Folk and
appropriare evoutions, lots of power house creatures (xeno mantis is a good one), pangaeas song, mana crisis and
any tree folk with a good mana twisting effect (essense elf). Ok i dont need to explain it, more mana means more
power,as they say. Try playing poisonus mushroom then pangaeas song for added effect.
Problems:
-Ok, you are gonna end up dumping some good cards in mana if you play dual fang, silver axe or bronze arm. Thats
the wat it goes. If you cant handle seeing your precious elf X going to mana then dont bother with this deck.
-Make sure youve got good cards to spend all your mana on, dont let it go to waste!

Water Civilisation- Waterfall
Species: Liquid People
I've gotta admit, i dont like water, but im not going to discriminate. This deck is called waterfall because
with all the cards youll be drawing, it'll be like putting your hands in a waterfall.. of cards..!!
What you'll need is lots of liquid people, specifically Aqua Hulcus and Aqua soldier (great for evolving).
Your main attacker here is Crystal lancer, the level one evolution. As for added drawing power,
dont forget Hyper Squid Walter and Plasma chaser. If you're playing more than one person, add a crystal Paladin
the group disruption it can cause is really something..
Problems:
-You could deck out, although its not that likely.
-Lost soul puts all your hard work to waste unless you play cards
immediatley.
-Mana, Sure you'll have plenty of cards, but you might not be able to play them..
