Drawing and Searching in Duel Masters Hey pojo goers! This is cgman (or celticguardianman88, whichever you prefer) with yet another tip for your decks. Everyone knows that in order to win you need certain cards at certain times. In Duel Masters, though, we have very little drawing and searching cards. There is a difference between drawing and searching, and, even though I'm sure most of you know what it is, I must explain it anyway. If you already know, then feel free to skip the next paragraph. Even though you gain cards through both drawing and searching, the major difference lies in how you obtain those cards. Drawing typically offers more cards, but searching is specialized. Let me explain. Drawing is placing a certain number of cards from the top of your deck into your hand. You do this every turn during your draw phase, when you place the top card of your deck into your hand. Searching is different. This is where you get the chance to look through your deck, often for a limited choice of cards, and place one of those into your hand of your choosing. This allows you to know exactly what you'll be getting, but often it is only one card. Now, on to what we have so far in Duel Masters regarding drawing and searching. Drawing: We only have (from what I counted) four cards that allow you to draw: Aqua Hulcus, Brain Serum, Illusionary Merfolk, and King Ripped-Hide. Unfortunately, all of these are from the Water civilization. This means that if you want draw power in your deck, you will have to add Water into your deck as another color. Now to explain exactly what it is you will be getting with these four cards. Aqua Hulcus allows you to draw one card from the top of your deck when you play him into the battle zone. Brain Serum allows you to draw three cards. Illusionary Merfolk requires you to have a Cyberlord out on the battle field in order to draw three cards. Finally, King Ripped-Hide allows you to draw two cards from your deck when he is played into the battle zone. Even though you don't know exactly what you'll be getting, this can give you a big advantage over your opponent and more options. Searching: Sadly, there are only two (I think, but I thought there was a third) searching cards in Duel Masters: Crystal Memory and Dimension Gate. Crystal Memory is, of course, a Water spell that lets you search your deck for any card and place it into your hand. You don't even have to show your opponent what it is! You could choose a creature or a spell, whatever you need most at the moment. Dimension Gate is, surprisingly, the only searching or drawing card that is not in the Water civilization: instead, it is in the Nature civilization! Unfortunately, you are limited to searching for a creature and you must search for a creature. The plus side is that it only costs three mana and it is also a Shield Trigger! I thought that there was a spell card that lets you search your deck for a spell, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand, but I couldn't find it. So, if anyone knows what it is, feel free to email me at dcphipps@academicplanet.com. That just about wraps it up! Thanks for reading! -cgman
