Strategy & Gameplay:

Race Wars

For the most part race is not an issue in the game of Duel Masters. Very few cards grant you race specific bonuses to your other cards and the majority of them are typically quite prohibitive in use. However, evolution creatures can force you too more careful evaluate what races the creature you choose for your deck belong to.

In this series of articles, the objective will be to give a general evaluation of the more popular and powerful races of the Duel Masters universe. We will check into the mana cost, average rarity and overall base power of each race. In addition I have included a comprehensive rating for each creature with a total average of all the creatures belonging to that race.

Today’s article will cover two of the most popular  of the races - Beast Folk and Humans. In future “Race Wars” articles I will endeavor to cover more of the races. You are more than welcome to write me with your suggestions, including your own evaluations!

Beast Folk

One of the most popular races in Duel Masters has been the Beast Folk. While their initial impact on the game seemed unimportant, the introduction of “Evocrushinators of Doom” granted these beasties a great deal of power with two of the most extraordinary of evolution creations to hit the Duel Masters circuit. Since then the Beast Folk have yet to be granted another evolution creature (perhaps allowing the other races some time to catch up). Still some useful basic creatures have made their way onto the scene with the likes of Torcon, for example. Alternatively, you could argue that Beast Folk recently obtained more evolutions than any other race with the introduction of Innocent Blade, Hunter of All.

Humans

We would be incredibly remiss if we forgot about our own race. Heck, based upon the power they possess, the human race deserves to be mentioned whether we share DNA with them or not. With thirteen members strong humans sport numerous quick creatures and provide a small variety of very useful abilities.
