Hello Pojo Fans,

Goblin Biker Grand Entrance is the only archetype Spell we will review this week, but it is a pretty good one.

The RoTA for the archetype, netting you a Goblin from the Deck, but then it does something more, if applicable. Detaching an Xyz Material on the field is what this archetype is all about, and combining that with the ability to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Goblin from the hand is a one-two punch. Not all the Goblin monsters have the ability to detach to Special Summon themselves, so this is a necessity to encourage their swarm ability. Making this a Quick-Play would have made it an interactive card with your opponent during their turn. As is, you have to play this and hope their Xyz (if any) does not negate it. Search the Goblin that cannot Special Summon itself through the archetype’s theme of detaching and then Special Summon it all with this card.

If this card were to be negated, or is successful and now in the grave, it is more than just a normal RoTA. Banish and detach an Xyz Material and it becomes a Warrior Returning Alive for Goblins. There are a lot of Goblin monsters that can be targeted with this card, ones from long ago that aren’t part of the archetype like Goblin Attack Force. Most of them turn to defense position and cannot be changed until the end of the next turn, but now with Xyz and Link Summoning that isn’t a problem. There are a few Goblin monsters you could tech into the archetype: Goblin Zombie can do stuff to the opponent’s hand, the same with Goblin Recon Squad, and Goblin Marauding Squad locks out effects until the end of the Battle Phase.

While this card is great for the archetype, being a RoTA for the archetype as well as a Warrior Returning Alive while detaching Xyz Materials on the field, I valued Goblin Biker Grand Bash higher because of its ability to help with their Xyz Summons. Regardless, this is a run in 3’s kind of card for the archetype and may even knock RoTA out of the question…though with a few Warriors you could keep it and save this for the other Goblins.

Midweek brings us to what now seems to be the standard “archetypal searcher with a special twist” in Goblin Biker Grand Entrance.

Grand Entrance is a Normal Spell that lets you add any Goblin monster from your Deck to your hand and then you can detach a material from a monster on either field to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Goblin from the hand. Nice to techncially summon from Deck if you end up summoning what you search. Besides the Goblin Biker monsters, the only other card I can imagine being worth searching is Goblindbergh, and you wouldn’t really use that in Goblin Bikers due to being a Level 4. Still, at worst even without the second part, this is your archetypal searcher for any play enabler or extender you need. The second effect lets you banish this card from the graveyard and detach a material from a monster on either field to add a Goblin from your graveyard to your hand, at least offering some nice recovery after being used to search. Each effect is a hard once per turn, so you can do both in the same turn if you need. It’s standard consistency and recovery with the twist of detaching materials for things to trigger your Xyzs that want random materials to be detached. Play 3 of it to search for the combo pieces you need, I don’t see this being used for any Goblin monster that isn’t a Biker, though.

The Normal Spell Goblin Biker Grand Entrance makes its, well, grand entrance! It has two hard once per turn effects. The first is a simple ROTA, searching any Goblin Biker monster; afterwards, you can detach an Xyz material from any Xyz monster on the field to Special Summon any level 4 or lower Goblin monster from your hand. You could summon a Goblin Attack Force monster, but it’s pretty obvious that you’re going to be summoning a Goblin Biker monster (assuming you already have an Xyz monster on the field, yet ANOTHER example of my gripe with Goblin Bikers). For the most part, this effect will be helping you access Goblin Biker Dugg Charger since Dugg will get to your other backrow, though Goblin Biker Mean Merciless is fine for two-card combo lines. Grand Entrance’s other effect can only be activated in the Graveyard, banishing it to detach an Xyz material from either field to recycle a Goblin Biker monster back to your hand. Again, what’s with this deck’s obsession with needing an existing Xyz monster??? At this point you’ll have likely exhausted most of your boss’s materials, so I would say it’s pretty unlikely to take full advantage of this card. Still, in pure builds, it’ll help get your two-card combos off their feet, so you’ll be playing three.

+Simple ROTA
+Excellent extender potential
Again, requires an existing Xyz monster to use properly
-Less useful due to Goblin Biker itself lacking one-card combo lines

Art: 4/5 The bikers might be the subject of the card, but I think the highlight is showing Diabellstar and Poplar’s cute relationship.
