IronMan1110 Benjamin J. Grimm

Well, I must say, I really like the Vet. Thing better just because he starts off with his good stats. Which are good. Multiple clicks of Invulnerability, then toughness, LOTS of super strength, and a bit of charge. His only problem? His attack is pathetic. Ironman has only 10 attack, but people refuse to play him. He may be alright with perplex, but Hulk doesn't need that support and he only costs like 10 more points. I would pass him up, but he certainly is a great collectors piece.

The Bottom Line: 2.5/5
Joel Lufgren Yo, and whats up? Today we have another review of a truly powerful clix.
That said, lets look at this LE, Benjamin J. Grimm.

Pts: 133
Team Affiliation: Fantastic Four
Range:0,1 attk (Note: Super Strength lets this guy throw stuff..)
Abilities: Charge, Super Strength, Invulnerability, Toughness Start Stats: 6 spd 7 atk, 14 def, 1 dmg, No Abilites.. (Note:2nd click:8
spd, 10 atk, 17 def, 4 dmg +abilities)

The Review:
This guy has a basic ''Hulk' Formula' ('Hulk Formula': First click sucks, 2nd click he goes all out with abilities, stats etc). Yes, he does eventually get weaker down the dial, but not so that he won't be in the game for quite a while. If he does happen to 'Bite the dust' any other clix on the FF in your team get minor healin'. He stays and sorta bothers your opponent even if he gets k'o'ed. A heavy weight harasser if you will. He is also a good substitute if you don't own any other Hulks, other versions of
the Thing , of *gasp* even Colossus (another 'Hulk formula' character). His mix of abilites are 'bland' but effective, I mean a possible 6 clix from simply holding a heavy obj. and 4 dmg is awesome..but I dunno it just sounds 'boring' to me. His Stats are solid after the first clix (you may want to push him?) but eventually fall. Keep him up and close, pounding away (Charge may help do that in 1 action!) and he can handle most of the business by
himself.

The Verdict: Very solid, Interesting Clix, too bad most of us don't have him

200: 3/5 Er, you better find a GOOD way to support him, other wise he'll be
doing all the work..
300: 4/5 No problem here, just combine him with some other FF chars
(She-hulk and Human torch, anyone? Heck, spring for an Invis. Girl..) and
you should be fine.
300+: 5/5 (see above)
Draft/sealed: N/A? I'm not exactly sure how you get this guy but uh..I don't
think you can get him via Draft.

BEN GRIMM:

Benjamin J. Grimm, otherwise known as the thing, is the fantastic four's muscle-man.  He's the hulk of the 4 and shows it. Sure, he's no rocket scientist, but he gets the group out of jams a lot. The thing about the thing is that he starts of as Ben (no super powers) and then gets the better stats, remind you of someone?

With all that rock, comes some weight, his speed is a minor 6, then it increases to 8 with charge! 7 attack as a starter is mild, but don't be afraid to push him, he gains 3 attack and super strength.  you can guess what happens next, he starts of with an ok defense of 14, then gets the awesome abilities of invulnerability and toughness, while gaining 3 defense! Damage starts at 1 and goes all the way to.....4! His 10 health keeps this guy alive for a long time, and don't forget the FF's team ability, if one goes down, they all get healed one click!

This 133 point guy, IMO, is pretty playable, don't look this guy over just once, or it could be the end of the game for you!

Lo Pan Ben Grimm

no time to go into detail..basically, hes a big tank like any other, but i would rather play one with more charge.

Spider_Cide  The "Ever-Loving-Blue-Eyed" Thing. This is the Marvel HeroClix: Clobberin` Time LV 5 LE, Ben Grim. It represents the transformation after the fateful shuttle crash. This is also one of the most wanted
LEs.

Power wise, he is a one trick pony. You need to push him to power him up. Then his stats drop slowly. He does live for 10 clicks, which is a plus.

There really isn't much to say about this guy. He is your standard heavy hitter. 4 clixs invulnerability, 5 clixs toughness, 2 clixs charge, 9 clicks superstrength and 3 clixs of 4 damage. He is pretty bland in my opinion.

Head-To-Head: 3.5/5

Sealed/Draft: N/A

Collectors: 5/5

He is a LV 5 LE, so I doubt he is played much. He will stay locked in my collection. He is worth a pretty penny for collectors, so sell him and buy some better figs

Here's Ben Grimm for 'ya

So this then, this here is one of 'dem fancy limited edition type heroclix. It shore is purty, and 'spensive too...kinda like it were made out of gold 'ya see.

See, the only way you are supposed to be able to get one of these is to win a WizKids sponsored tournament. This is what is called a Limited Edition, and it
comes in a really nice small box all by itself. The Limited Editions are supposed to represent the "alter-ego's" of the characters, so, for example, the Hulk Limited Edition from Infinity Challenge (The single most expensive Heroclix of all time) is called "Bruce Banner"), and this one is Benjamin J. Grimm, otherwise known as the ever-lovin' Thing.

This version of the Thing costs one point less than the MUCH cheaper and easier to get Veteran verion. Still at 133 points, he's not gonna be on very many teams. In fact, he also has no team affiliation, so there's no FF bonus. He's got one extra click of health, but really, that's not a bonus, since he gets none of his powers until the second click. For the rest of his dial it's exactly the same as the Veteran
version. Basically you get one extra action at the beginning of his dial with which to make a non-powered attack. I'm not sure what the logic of this is, and
I'm pretty sure I'm not willing to give it up for the Fantastic Four Team Affiliation. Still it'd be interesting to check it out in game play.

Since this bad boy is a Level Five Limited Edition (I think there's six levels, but I'm not 100% sure), it's supposed to be REALLY, REALLY hard to get legitimately. However, he's readily available on Ebay at prices ranging from $25 to $50. Why is that? Because several of these bad boys never went to tournament players, they went straight to Ebay or other places, and the judges who were supposed to
award them have been sacked. They also were supposed to have fixed this problem with X-Plosion, and Cosmic Justice, and the Limited Editions shouldn't be showing up AS MUCH on Ebay. They'll still show up, but not as much.

So should you buy it? Unless you're a completist (and you need help if you are), I wouldn't bother searching it out. If someone offers it to me for under $20, I'd be sorely tempted to let it go unsold. For $35 I'd just as soon buy a Nightcrawler if I could find one that that price...or even better at $35 I'd go buy four booster packs and try my luck.

MY ratings:
Playability 4 of 5
Collectability 4 of 5.

Next time, a DC Limited...try to guess which one?
I'll give you a hint...he's missing something.
