Swamp Thing
Once upon a time there was a scientist named Alec Holland, who was researching in the Louisiana swamp when he was attacked, his research destroyed and he left for dead at the bottom of the swamp. When Dr. Holland emerged from the swamp, he was transformed. The Swamp Thing was straight horror creation in the Jekyll and Hyde vein under it's first run, written largely by Len Wein and drawn with power by Bernie Wrightson. That all changed with Saga of the Swamp Thing Number 21 written by Alan Moore. Turns out, Dr. Holland actually was dead, but his memories and spirit passed into a creature that formed into existence as a result of the experiments combining with the swamp. Swamp Thing then went into sort of an extensential existence, exploring his own identity as a scion of nature, and also as a cornerstone of the DC Magical Universe. For several years Moore weaved magical tales that eventually found Swamp Thing falling in love with the niece of his greatest enemy, Abby Arcane, AND they had a baby together. Alan Moore's writing on Swamp Thing led directly to the formation of DC's Vertigo Imprint, and radically changed the nature of comic books forever. As DC's ad line went at the time "Comics Aren't Just for Children". Indeed.

Veteran Swampy is a macho 93 points, but you get 11 clicks of health for that. He's got 8 Speed, 11 Attack, 15 Defense and 3 Damage. Phasing and Plasticity aid the speed, Super-Strength, Impervious and Toughness round out this heavy hitter. Swampy is going to be around awhile, and he's going to kick some butt before he goes down. And he's a swimmer too.

He's a level 5 rare, but again he's from Hypertime, so his realized prices should be pretty low. I love the sculpt though, reminds me a little of the great line of Swamp Thing figures from the late 80's.

Swamp Thing:

You gotta love this guy!  Even his ROOKIE version has only ONE click of KO!  His vet version is a monster, sporting Impervious, Thoughness, Super Strength, Phasing and more!  He has high values (as high as Supes anyway) and only costs 93 points!  Pinch me, I'm dreaming!

Two words. Holy Crap! For ninety three points you get this? An 8 movement
with Phasing, a crushing 11 attack with Super Strength, a wonderful 15 defense
with Impervious, and 3, natural damage. And Plasticity, which, because of
Indyclix, has become a heck of a lot more useful. Pure power. Use him if you have
him. If you don't, what are you waiting for? Christmas?
